Oklahoma State Postgame

By baiting a coach when they knew he could be fined?
To write about Sampson storming the court and getting the two technicals is fine, but it was pretty self explanatory.
Ask the player not the coach. They were baiting him to go off on the refs and he responded appropriately.
It is not the reporters job to coddle UH or Sampson, but that is as simple baiting and they knew it was.

His publisher, unless he’s freelance.

@bigmccoog

So your saying CKS goes all the way across from the other side, runs in front of the Officials
and you want the Reporter to just ask Shead a question.
Again, the question needed to be asked n CKS has been doing this for over 30 yrs , he knows how to answer w/o being fined. You’re not giving him enough credit. He chose a very direct, personal way to answer the Reporter, instead of other ways as to not get fined. Im missing something i guess.
I’m good.

Edit: i thought you were a Reporter way back in your younger days?

Pretty sure you misunderstood my entire post. First, I don’t think him saying “I got upset at the refs” would have incurred a fine. Second, the crux of my problem was him taking out his anger on the reporters who were just doing their job. As I and Jesse stated, there were a number of ways he could have professionally and politely answered (or not answered) the question without the unnecessary snark pointed at the wrong parties.

So if the reporter shouldn’t ask him about running on the court and getting in the officials face, what else should a reporter not ask about that happens on the court? Silly.

Sounds reasonable to me Duece, on what the reporter asked. Coach made it ugly, not JD. If JD wouldn’t have asked then Chris B. or heaven forbid one of the younger guys would have had to ask.
Look CKS is main reason I’ve had season tickets to UH Basketball last 7 yrs, excluding Covid year, so I’m :100: Pro Coach but he had other choices in approach to the question w/o getting fined. Not that hard.

I can see the story now

Headline: Coach Furious
Story: You watched the game. It was pretty self explanatory.

They got a story to write. Get as much as you can from primary source

It was simply baiting and reporter knew Sampson was not going to answer.it.
Anyone who saw the flagrant push off knew why he was irate.‘didn’t you see it?
The reporter was baiting Sampson and fully he wasn’t going to answer the question.
Didn’t know we had so many journalists on this site lol.

Yes, you already mentioned baiting. We’ll agree to disagree on this one.

So you’re approach as reporter would have been
hey coach ran 70 ’ towards the official but let’s don’t ask abt the situation. Psshh. #ReporterIsWeak

No journalist here. I made way more $$ in my career than most journalist, but thks for the concern

No but I would have written that Sampson stormed the floor and got himself ejected.
Jesse why do with have to hear the reason it did so?
Wasn’t it pretty obvious he was upset with the refs lol. The players seemed to know he was covering for them after some bizarre calls and no calls.
So yeah we will disagree on this one.

Yep, let’s give it a handshake n move on.
Hope all is well Butch. As Loyal as a Coog as they come!!

CKS knows what he is doing and he did it masterfully. The reporters had every right to ask the question and CKS had every right to answer them the way he did.
The foul committed on our player was so flagrant and so easy to call. The ref clearly did not know what he was doing.

No journalist here either, but don’t know that you have to be one to know the very very basics that if someone makes a public spectacle, then sits at a press gathering directly following, you ask them about it.

Maybe I do have a knack for it after all

Not getting into an argument with you because they too often end up meaningless hogwash.
Glad you made a lot of money Jesse.
I also want to thank you for the tickets last year.
Have a great day and see you at the Tu game!

One of the few times i agree w a Chris post. Spot on! It’s what I’m trying to say
the QUESTION needed to be asked n JD took one for the Team ( media) knowing CKS response might be harsh. Jd was right person t9 ask imo. Him & CKS are more than good w ea other.

Lol. The reporter knew the answer before he ever asked it

Yeah, Sampson can be an ass at press conferences, even with no provocation. He treats the national media with more respect.

But you gotta get quotes.

He had the nerve to text me after game, thanking me for tiks, etc. Then he says hey " are you using them for Kansas game ":joy::laughing::smile:
