They were happy he did an about face on the Houston job and came back. I took plenty of crap from Tulane fans on X when that happened
I think you nailed it!!!
Big time boosters already do but Coogfans is just the plebs
Someone help me here. Where did they rank in Time of Possession? Because as we know, Willie focuses on winning, not putting up a ton of points.
Upgrade. Good buy for our budget.
22 - 80th
23 - 23rd
Funk, youâre right in that 90% oc coordinators donât get the jobâŠ.
But he just came off two great seasons and his stock was at an all time highâŠ.
Canât blame him for taking his shot.
If he gives us a couple of double digit win seasons heâll get a chance somewhere.
Yep. After he took over, as you pointed out, the offense looked a lot more vanilla. While they had a good season overall, they struggled offensively against SMU in the conference championship game. However, I think heâs a big upgrade over Barbay.
Now, if Fritz can find a competent DC that can keep the defense playing. Well, we have a chance to make some noise next year. Especially considering the QB we just signed. All we need now are some solid offensive lineman to block for the QB.
That seems to be the debate, who called the plays in the 2022 season?
Good hire, but we could have done better.
This hire will literally make or break Fritzâs Houston career.
No way he can produce an offense any where near as bad as this season.
If this OC, and our offense, continues to be bottom half of P4 horrible in the next 2 seasonsâŠFritz wonât get a 4th year here.
Isnât averaging a FG a quarter alone enough to be better than this season?
Its on now Coogs to the Bourbon Bowl in 25.
Thank you. Thatâs what I was hoping for. While the flashy stats dropped off, the 2023 Tulane offense ranked 23rd nationally in Time Of Possession. Run the ball. Limit turnovers on offense. Force turnovers on defense. This was with G5 level recruits. If we can win a few more games and pick up more NIL donors, we could attract more offensive talent and have an offense more exciting than they had at Tulane.
Well, thatâs generally who they were playing against.
Nagle did, even though he wasnât OC in title.
Canât imagine Nagle not being a major upgrade over what we had this year.
Nagle was Fritzâs original pick. That speaks volumes. Weâll be OK.
And the Louisiana recruits will keep coming. Thatâs big
Nagle coming offers needed stability. CWF and Nagle know each other inside out. That is great news.
