Discussion: Slade Nagle named UH Offensive Coordinator

Mediocre would be a remarkable turnaround from last year’s offense.

If this is the OC that was calling the plays when Tulane came from behind at the last minute with their third string QB to beat us in Houston one year under Holgorsen…then I can get down with that!

it wasn’t

Not true. There is an interview where he said he took over the play calling and did so most of the year. He called plays 2 years.

Incorrect.

He called them both years….didn’t get the OC title until second year….but was AHC the year before.

Who was?

So he WAS calling the plays that led them to a comeback against us with the 3rd string QB?

Again…if so…then I can get down with that!

If that was Tulane’s 12-2 season then yes, correct.

Here is the interview

Nagle turned down the OC job at UH last season. Tulane hired Sumrall in early December so he was already out of the running. We didn’t hire Barbay until mid January.

Again, I said one full season. Nagle did end up calling plays half of the 2022/23 season

Svoboda actually called plays when they beat us in September with their back up QBs.

So do we want this guy or not?

What’s the CF consensus???

I have many friends in the coaching industry and I know for a fact Nagle was holding Svaboda’s hand from jump street and was calling the plays all year long.

You don’t have to believe me.

Our TE coach was Barbay, he was OC/TE

I believe he turned us down thinking he would get the Tulane HC job after Willie. But he didn’t so he just went to be a TE coach at tiger.

I’d say it’s a ‘meh’ hire.

Don’t normally get in these spats but Pollardvision is correct.

Big fan of this hire.

Guy hasn’t even packed to get here and we are already running him out of town.

I don’t understand why schools don’t just crowdsource their fan forums to fill vacancies. We’ve got all the answers.
