I don’t know much about Chase, but there’s a 0% chance Mercy is redshirting.
Hes an ESPN top 100 player and Mercy is not. Hes good lol
If Shead comes back, the Coogs are definitely a top 5, maybe top 2. Not sure what UConn will look like, but UH will have almost entire team coming back.
McCarty is a big-bodied scoring wing who bases his attack off his ability to make tough shots. He’s very adept at scoring over top of contesting defenders, both from behind the arc and in the mid-range area. He needs minimal separation to get his shot off because he has very little dip in his release and can also square his body up to the target as he is rising up into his release. Physically, he’s long, strong, has solid positional size at 6-foot-5, and is able to create space by going right into contact. McCarty has also shown a willingness to take smaller defenders into the post, where he is a threat to overpower them and score over top of them. The combination of that strength, physicality, and multi-range scoring ability makes him a very tough match-up for opposing defenders. The next steps in his development are to sculpt his frame in order to maximize his footspeed and explosiveness. He may have some potential to switch onto bigger players defensively, but could lack the foot-speed to keep in front of opposing guards, especially in open space. Offensively, he should be able to put more pressure on the rim, as he typically puts the ball on the floor looking for his pull-up and not necessarily for paint touches, even though defenders should be forced to close-out hard on his catch.
doesnt sound like a redshirt. 5th highest recruit ever for UH. thats right, higher than Chicken
Top 1 baby
Duke is going to be up there with Cooper Flagg and if Jared McCain spurns the NBA which he might. Hes always singing in campus on his Tik Tok lol
Now thats the only time i dont mind not being #1, and thats preseason.
Sounds like he was built in a lab created and funded by Kelvin Sampson.
the lab is Kellen’s, Kelvin needs plausible deniability
I’m now wondering if there is some validity in Shead coming back. Katz reports there is a chance. I’m wondering that is the reason no transfer announcement has been made.

If he does its probably a hint that next season coming up may be CKS swan song !?
i think its phrased for clicks, but yeah I would be troubled by that meaning too, Beast
Sasser and jarace both declared they were going pro in March.
If Shead playing one more year means Kelvin retires after next year, would you want that?
- Yes
- No
only if we are cutting down the nets in san antonio would it be worth it…
Assuming it 1 year vs. a few, my answer is no.
Unless you’re guaranteeing a natty, then I’m in!
Haha! Wouldn’t be much of a poll question if it guaranteed anything.
I voted yes just because it positions us that much stronger for a natty and ultimately I have complete faith in Kellen and even if Kelvin is not head coach that doesn’t mean he won’t be around. He won’t be going anywhere really lol.
I agree with this. The poll question is really a referendum on how much faith we have in Kellen right now. I think he’s ready, but having Kelvin a phone call away is certainly helpful. For next year, getting Shead back almost certainly means our other major players stay and we run it back. With the added depth, I’d think we’d be the favorite to win it all.
If Shead (and presumably Roberts and Cryer) returns then we no doubt start the season as the #1 team in the country and the odds on title favorites. Man, that would be crazy. Have we ever started the season #1? Maybe in PSJ days?
I think Shead guarantees UH of a FF at the minimum with the squad we have on paper as of today. Probably still get a player out of the portal, tho knowing CKS just to switch things up a bit.
