How many times have we run on 3rd and long?
If only….
If we had competent play calling we could be undefeated or a 2 loss team
lol very, very doubtful. Until we chore up the OL and figure a way to get Chriss comfortable passing we will continue to run a vanilla offense and depend on the defense to give us a chance.
Barbay made some great calls tonight and we beat a ranked team. Be happy
play calling is not the issue, talent level all over the offense is the issue. 4-5 with this squad is amazing. As UH improves the offensive talent the play calling will look better
Yup. They have to run plays that never work to keep the defense honest.
That usually doomed HB dive or whatever can get QB some running room.
With the Chef’s Kiss
WF / Wes Fritz rebuilt numbers in frosh ranks over immediate portal depth. Some should 2 deep in 25. OG Joiner already backing up Dunn.
Not a gambler.
Anyone know if UH over was a nice pay out ?
We won. Chriss threw for over 100 yards and ran 75 yards. I think the play calling tonight was a factor with the win. It’s hard to criticize our coogs when we were huge underdogs against a top 17 team in the nation plus our coogs defeated a winning Utah team last week.
BTW, my OP was made while were trailing. Obviously happy for the win.
I’m very happy for the team and almost all of the coaching staff, but if you think the OC called a great game, I need some of what you are drinking
He hasn’t called a great game this year. Not even a mediocre game.
I don’t care if we won with 13 safeties and a holy roller pick six that changed possession five times on the same play. Not important to me.
IMHO I think the OC is calling what our players can handle, including a QB sneak with QB D.Smith. CWF said in a recent interview we were going to simplify . We did and won .
Go Coogs…beat those hateful Bears !
More teams lose games than teams win games.
Willie knows he doesn’t have an offense that can win games so he chooses not to have the offense lose games.
This observation is flat wrong. The OC and his garbage play calling sealed the loss to OU and that’s just the most glaring example. If you need one from the K St game, how about putting Smith in to sneak it from the one, only to call a delayed hand-off before the sneak attempt, which was stopped cold by the KState D.
Barbay is absolutely a problem, his play calling is a problem. He is, most likely, THE problem. It took him 5 games to implement a game plan his kids could execute. The OC is hurting the team. That’s simple. It will be interesting to see if he’s still here next year.
Go Coogs, Boo OC,
Normally we only do that between the goal lines. Our preference is to do that at 3rd and 15 on their 49, and with our slowest, smallest player who is prone to fumbles. We feel it is a challenge to almost make one someday.
OC position will definitely have to be assessed at end of season. We have an open week for Barbay to enhance offense with Chriss at the helm. Hopefully, we see major improvement the last 3 games.
This whole play calling thing is way over blown. Let’s just win. If it means calling plays that reduces the turnovers, better ball positioning to defend etc let’s do that. I am sure CWF is very much aware of what he has and what he doesn’t and he is maximizing it based on his knowledge and experience. That’s all matters. He is a super professional and we are not. So, let’s just stfu on play calling.
Exactly, we win and people still want to compliant. The goal is to win the game. Go Coogs! Great job and keep working! We have way too many arm chair QB’s chatting. Coach Fritz and co. are doing great things.
Bringing in DS a second time to run the same play seemed like a bad idea.
On another play just prior to receiving a hand off Sanford walks over and drys his hands on Chriss’s towel. Could there be a more obvious tell?
How about some more trickery. I’ve always felt the pump fake is underrated
Maybe by bringing in DS they thought we would pass.
Yeah, the first time
