We'd be winning with better playcalling

Funny.

The first time was first and goal. The second time was 4th and 1.

Earlier in the game, we had a 4th and 1 from near mid field. Chriss pass to Manjack…… how did that work out ?

I see nothing wrong with Chriss ability to pass the ball EXCEPT that 90% of the passes are behind the line of scrimmage !!

It has little to do with our players can handle and more to do with the OC’s playbook only having about 5 plays in it.

The pump fake is straight guns! Last night being an exception, I think most QBs shoukd use it.

Regarding the play-calling, we know the game plan that did win the game.

What is the alternate play-calling that might have won the game?

In the second half, we were playing field position and trusting our defense and punting. And it worked. Our offense has limitations so we put the game in hands of defense and punting. We flipped the field in the 4th quarter and KSU was routinely playing with it back to the goalpost and had no room for error. They made two big errors and we seized it. Brilliant.

Chris throws a nice slant pass.

Always seems to be on time with it, hitting the WR in stride.

He also does well on streak routes where our guy is in man coverage.

If he gets the back should throw going, he will be tough to stop.

I can see the point the OP is making. We’ve only won 3 of our last 4 games.

I do think offense will look better over time as we build a stronger OL/run game. But as others have said the main thing is that we win.

Put your glasses on and read what I wrote lol. I only responded when we made good plays. Geez lighten up

Our pass protection is not good we are running the offense the way we are to keep the defense fresh and give ourselves a chance to win games in the 4th quarter. I think down the line as we get better up front we will throw the ball more. Tulane was a good running team and had a lot of down the field passing under Fritz.

I dont recall Tulane doing a lot of passing with Pratt until the year they beat USC in the Cotton Bowl.

And even there it was sparse. They went run-heavy with Tyjae Spears at RB.

You are both correct. Tulane was run heavy, but with play action passing more down the field versus side to side.

The year Tulane won the Cotton Bowl Pratt let the nation in yards per attempt and his numbers were over 9 ypa as a senior as well.

The pass play to Manjack was beautiful as was the jump pass for a TD. Chriss’ run up the middle was pure speed. You have to have runs to keep your defense from getting gassed (we are not that deep). As depth improves, so will our offensive struggles.

I hope that’s not true.

I know what you meant, but when I read that it sounded like we would struggle more. :slightly_smiling_face:
