I LOVE it !!! I’m so glad to see our Coogs reach out to the general Houston community, and remind them (again) which CITY they are representing too! To use a term from a different sport, it’s a home run!

I am a Horn but love my hometown and rep any team that has Houston on the front of their jersey. As a die hard Oilers fan who loved that team with all my heart, seeing the video UH put out introducing these unis brought a tear to my eye. Thank you from a Houstonian. This was a home run. #FortheCity.

Almost sounds like you would be down to pay homage to that once a season

If it helps, the “red” in the Oilers uniforms is actually scarlet, just like the Coogs.

I can’t help but LOL reading the reactions of people here.

Damn near universal praise EVERYWHERE except Coogfans.

Just considered that (although it was before my time) those colors will be played-in over familiar hallowed ground.

“Forgive still-mourning Oilers fan if we share a collective tear of joy Saturday at 6 p.m. when the Houston Cougars start the 2023 campaign with a game against UTSA. The newly minted Big 12 members plan to honor the city of Houston by donning the famous baby blue – the national colors of Houston, TX – and red made my famous by Earl Campbell and Bum Phillips…”

Wow, I am now officially a geezer! I must be because I went to the first Oiler game played in Houston at Jeppesen Stadium against the LA Chargers in 1960. And to think, it only took me 76 years to gain that moniker. :grinning:
