UH 2024 Recruiting

Nope. Not listening!!! Im not talking about player rankings. Im talking about team rankings. The way they score recruiting classes is outdated for the reasons I laid out above. Not once did I mention player rankings outside of that 2 members of our class dont have one, but only for the point of how that effects our class ranking

Which is the culmination of player rankings.

You clearly didnt even read my post… its based on total “point accumulation” basically each player is worth points. The best player in your class is weighted the most, and the worst player is weighted the least. But simple math the more players you have the more points you get. This was fine when everyone had 25 recruits in a class. Now their are transfers that dont count toward this number, and no one knows how to evaluate anyways, and you can sign as many players as you loose. No limit. So with this scoring system you cant accurately compare a class of 20 to a class of 45.

And do you wanna address my point about TCU? They’re 9th in the B12 right now coming of a national title appearance. Does that sound like a score board doing a good job of measuring whats happening in recruiting?

It sounds like it is June. But we all started at the same point. Oklahoma doesn’t start recruiting before UH or Baylor. We all have the same time frame. Do you have a better ranking system?

What part of quantity over quality do you not understand?

The more important metrics is who are we getting commitments from and so far we are matching up very well vs our peers.

Those ranking don’t even have UT or BYU in them.

and our player average score is 5th in the B12. So what? Why not wait until this recruiting cycle is over so your post ages better.

Nothing about your argument makes sense, or shows me you are even listening to what im saying. So I’ll end with this. To answer your points 1) it is only june. Matthew Golden, MHP, Demetrius hunter, Justin Benton all recent recruiting battles that were won in December and beyond. Recruiting is a zero sum game. TTU lost a 4 star that had been committed to OU yesterday. So these numbers literally have no value right now if the kids never even make it to campus.

2)OU literally does start recruiting before UH and Baylor. The very top schools have more recruiting staff and assistants and are able to start working more on the next recruiting class earlier than other schools. UH has to be very selective about where they spend their time with 2025 kids right now. Its getting better, but just a fact right now.

Just shows me you aren’t listening. I think average recruit score is a more accurate picture of whats happening. But again as I said I just watch the players we land and decide for myself if we have a good class or not. Didn’t need rankings to know we landed some dudes in 2023.

So if you aren’t going to be thoughtful in your responses you can waste someone elses time. Go coogs

To better understand gdashman’s point. The way they rank teams, if I recruit 25 two stars, I get 50 points. If someone else recruits 12 four stars, they get 48 points.

I am ranked higher with a team of two stars.

Ranking should be based on average of the players point ratings.

And Holgorsen has made it clear we’re not going to rely solely on high school recruits but that we’ll regularly bring in players from the Portal. SigEp will always find a dark cloud in every silver lining. You can count on that.

I muted him years ago, who needs that kind of crap.

Case was an anomaly. There are a few out there. There are more cases where 4&5 stars go to the NFL. Of course rankings of players matter

Have you looked at the data for QBs, or is this a theory?

Who cares about data? Certainly no one on this site. Everyone massages data to validate their point.
Here is an example: Response to anyone claiming we are dead last in the BIG12 recruiting

Two of our recruits have no rating. If you give them our average rating right now that moves us up to 10th in the Big12. Further, since we only have 7 recruits, if you normalize us at 12 recruits, which at some point we will have, then apply our average recruit number, we are at 5th in the Big 12. Our current player average is 5th so that makes sense. Doesnt it? Is that enough data for you? Am I correct? Maybe, maybe not, but the point is pretty much everything I read on here is a theory or opinion so please dont single me out, just make a general post about every Coog fan that posts.

Plus when the other non-rated yet guys…

We might be last for ending FEB 2023, but what about 2024 when we are actually in the Big 12? Excluding Texas and OU, we are 3rd place among members who will stay…Thats 3rd out of 12, …Of our 8 or 9 committed recruits, 5 are on Texas football’s state top 100 list. Coog player and coach reaction to this ranking? “WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED”
