I believe we recruited him, hasn’t really planned out but I pretty sure we looked at him, somebody can correct me if I’m wrong

Dude can’t hit the beach with a beach ball

I agree but with this staff who knows :man_shrugging:t5::joy: I’m busy throwing stuff out there. I don’t think he would be a bad 3rd QB on the roster

Not sure if we recruited him, but man, he looked pretty bad against us in that Birmingham Bowl Game back in 2021.

There were some good throws, sure, but I wasn’t impressed. I still think his backup at the time, Dematrius Davis, would have been a good fit here, but that’s long past.

Grant Gunnell- QB has transferred to SHSU. Started at Arizona, then UNT. All time leading TX H.S. QB in passing yardage & TD’s @ Houston St Pius H.S.

Sept 23 2023 – :eyes:

I think Sam Houston will do well at the next level. I’m looking forward to that game in the fall.

Yep, nice to move up. Plus they got tired of NDSU juggernaut. Easier to win in CUSA, then face The Bison in Playoffs .

Edit: just have ways to go when it comes to facilities upgrades, + Students, Alum support at games. hmmm.

He has a strong arm, but you just never know where the ball will go when he lets it go. I’m not sure he even knows.

He also went to Memphis in between Arizona and UNT. This is his fourth school. We recruited him outta HS when he was setting records at St. Pius X

For as celebrated in HS as Gunnell was, his college career has not lived up to expectations. I thought going to AZ was his first big mistake. I hope he is able to turn it around at SHSU.

We call that The Auburn Way. Pretty sure that’s in the Creed.

Kris, we already have 3 scholarship QBs on the roster for the fall; Coley, Smith, and McMickle.

I watched Gunnel in HS. I told the Arizona coach that he couldn’t play. He told me I was full of it and he was going to be great. I said he had a low football IQ.

Dang, the area of most need, we seem to have a hard time getting players.

Lyndell was a 3 year starter at FIU. his other visits were Temple and USF. Clearly wanted to make a jump up in competition, but wanted a spot where he could walk in as a starter day 1. He would have had to compete here, and potentially get buried on a depth chart.

We had offered this guy.

He committed to GaTech.
