So all these transfer portal threads got shutdown for no reason (since we arent adding anyone else lol)

actually that makes a lot of senseā€¦ the player he might be referencing might have been dedan

Agree, but UNLV has a lot of things in its favor: Close to home, Dedanā€™s Dad played there, familiarity with coaches, most likely a competitive NIL. The telling comment to me was something to the effect of ā€œI can finish what my Dad started.ā€ That mentality is hard to overcome.

Difficult balancing act keeping current players happy and then doling out vastly higher amounts for top recruits. Guessing thatā€™s what was meant getting more involved. Canā€™t expect a few donors to keep refinancing the whole roster.

You think Mrs. Thomas cared about money when she wanted Dedan at UH?

Nate

the UNLV vs. UH narrative was solely about hometown and legacy(dad) versus. culture and family and growing into a man(mom).

Matter of fact, just go back and read what Tina said. If youā€™re a believer, youā€™ll read between the lines and understand her words.

Sampson has been saying that for several months. His point has always been that heā€™s been able to get the program to a high level while in the AAC, so the move doesnā€™t really help the basketball program as much as it will the university and athletics as a whole.

He sees the upside, but he recognizes that we were kind of in a sweet spot from the standpoint of advancing the program.

Same sweet spot that has turned Gonzaga into a perennial powerā€¦ Iā€™d rather play the gauntlet.

Right, but nobody is interviewing you about it. :grinning:

Sampson said something to the effect that heā€™s sure the fans will enjoy it more than him.

crazy. who is he going to overtake? Shead Dunn or Cryer?

Coach complained plenty about the AAC when we were in it. Just what he does.

its not ā€œwhat he doesā€, he constantly praised the aacā€¦ he almost never complained about the leagueā€¦ he complained for the league (advocating). i cant think of 1 time he said anything negative about the leagueā€¦

sampson flats says he prefers the aac and you guys still refute the point the he is just making coach speakā€¦

Complaining about how the AAC was treated/viewed is an indirect complaint about the league.

I donā€™t care where he plays, Sharp is going to launch some shot along with Cryer and maybe Arceneaux

thats not the same thingsā€¦ please explain your point of view
his complaining the aac is not getting enough respect from the committee is not an indirect complaint about the leagueā€¦ he isnt criticizing the league, he criticizing how people viewed the league ā€¦

saying i dont like how people with xxx are treated in our community, is not a indirect complaint at people with xxx

between now and the other thread sampson has made it very very bluntly clear his position on this but you guys refuse to accept his postion and telling him he doesnt mean what he is sayingā€¦ he has absolutely no incentive to praise the aac anymore, he could coach speak why the big 12 will be great but he is honest, says that the aac was ā€œthe perfect sweet spotā€ and we are moving to a tougher position

I could be wrong, but I didnā€™t think transfers signed a binding letter of intent like freshmen.

A transfer is only on the roster once he attends classes.

My point is, that link may say this player ā€œsignedā€ with Washington State, but heā€™s not on that roster (and not committed to playing for Wash. St.) until he shows up on the first day of class.

If so, this guy could walk away at any time. I have no information whatsoever what his intentions are, but I believe heā€™s not ā€œsignedā€ in the sense that heā€™s bound to play for Wazzu in the fall.

Again, maybe things have changed. But Iā€™d swear thatā€™s the way it used to be.
