Sorry its not going to happen this off-season! Coach has made his bed with Roberts starting at center! Im okay with that. I trust coach over any of yall w**gas in here
Lol
Why mad, foo?
Kaluma >>> Udeh
Well Iâm not happy with Roberts at center all the time when there are some very good bigs out there, he is being stubborn, he needs to be flexible and change things up if needed, Miami exposed us, we need a monster in the middle to complement Shead, Cryer, Dunn, etc, we ainât winning a National Championship with this small ball, the three has ruined us ala Villanova and Miami
Agreed. We need a big man. Stubborn exactly. if we donât get one
Have we heard from Shead about next year?
Just an educated guess, but since Shead was not invited to the NBA Combine, he will be back. He also still needs feedback from the Undergraduate Evaluation Committee, but I would imagine CKS knows what he needs to work on. The additional year will do him good. Better competition in the B12, he will work on the feedback he gets from the NBA, he will get invited to the 2024 NBA Combine and his NIL at UH will give him some spending money in the meantime.
Our strategy to try and double team Miamiâs guards back fired on us. There was no way Mark could guard their monster. Roberts played extremely well most of the season.
We actually play other teams bigs with double teams but that was a no go against the âCanes.
I would like another big too because I have very little confidence in Francis or the three incoming freshmen until proven otherwise.
To expand on Butchâs point, and I know some people disagree, but my takeaway over the past 5 years is without a legitimate big man presence that can play D, block some shots and have a credible offensive game to keep the other teamâs defense honest, UH has a ceiling between elite eight and final four.
I totally agree, maybe thatâs why Sampson hasnât won the national championship? Made some final fours but no dice yet, not sure but itâs my theory, because he is so guard oriented
But Iâd take either of themâŠ
In my observation, the monster defense works best when you have a taller, stronger player on the double team. Against Miami their player used his girth and strength to push him out of the way. The monster defense didnât really work well, which allowed him to pass out if the double team for open shots. That, and our guards werenât able to stay in front of their guards. Perhaps, in part, due to injuries.
Regardless, that wasnât the only game where we got exposed defensively playing Roberts and Chaney at the 5.
Last year, when Carlton was in the middle, it was much harder for teams to pass out of our monster defense. We stymied Arizona, for example, by forcing bad passes and turnovers. Thatâs why I want another player that can spare Roberts when the matchup isnât in our favor.
Donât forget Carlton got exposed in the playoffs and got bailed out by Roberts against Arizona.
The transfers Oklahoma St is getting areâŠsub par
Oklahoma St projected roster:
1.John-Michael Wright
2.Bryce Thompson
3.Quion Williams
4.Eric Dailey (4 star prospect)
5.Brandon Garrison (4 star prospect)
6.Javon Small (ECU transfer)
7.Mike Marsh (Jacksonville transfer)
8.Jarius Hicklen (North Florida transfer)
9.Justin McBride (4 star prospect)
10.Jamyron Keller (3 star prospect)
11.Connor Dow (3 star prospect)
12.OPEN
13OPEN
The monster leaves 3 point shots open and Miami hit them⊠Those shots were open all season but teams couldnât convert like Miami did.
And Omier bullied us in the paint, too.
That being said⊠I love the Monster!
Somebody has to be the dregs.
Yeah, I think this is year 7 for Boynton.
They lost Kalib Boone, Cisse, Avery Anderson
And the transfers so farâŠno guarantee if theyâre Big 12 quality. Javon Small from ECU was a good pickup. Got hurt though last yr
Ten mega-ton truth bomb
Mike Boynton better be careful. There is nothing worse for a head coach than a BMD not getting a decent ROI on his NIL.
