I would not waste a ship on Dandridge. I could live with Roberts and Francis and give minutes to one of our youngsters. At least that has value for the future.
Outside of Dickinson are there any other bigs that are big time scorers in the post in the big 12? Dandridge would provide a big body and 5 additional fouls but I don’t think his attitude and effort are a fit. I could be wrong and the Memphis program didn’t bring out the best in him but I don’t see it. CKS has said multiple times bigs have to have a motor to play for him.
exact thing was said about carlton… dandrige rebound, defends… he is abit out of shape, but we have conditions… carlton was out of shape coming in too… and the entire “he doesnt try”, was from 1 incident when dandrige kept trying call himself out but the coaches left him in… 1 times, who cares
youve let memphis fans get in your head… uconn fans flat said he didnt care and was lazy…there were mega thread on the uconn forums trashing carlton… carlton on his leaving statements to the uconn press he wasing he didnt have any bad feeling towards uconn despite becuase he was aware of the comments but he didnt let it affedt how he viewed uconn…
am i worried about effort from a samspon team? no…
and i dont particularly care about how he was at memphis he was recruited over close to 3 times… imagine being an elite recruit and the coach having no faith in your development but trying to force you to stay… memphis is dysfunctional i dont care what dynamics was had there
Did not talk to any Memphis fans when coming to my conclusion.
Dandridge reached out last year. And to a host of other teams. No one was willing to bring him in.
@Jcoop9 mighve created a Big 12 bigs breakdown.

Man I can’t wait until we can actually talk about a player we brought in to help at PF/C
Instead of getting closer seems now we just keep adding candidates.
centers were at a premium, your source is 100% wrong on this…
2star centers with 3pts per from mid majors were getting major p5 offers… the idea that dandrige a top 100 4star center, from a top 25 team, who would be a senior would get no interest is borderline crazy and delusional… you dont understand the transfer market to believe that…
there is added context or you are wrong, like no one was willing to match what memphis was offering ($$$)… again he wasnt pushed out, penny likes him as a backup and everyone was fighting for bigs
not all o them are low post scorers despite the hieghts, here i bolded the actual low post threats, who can score when isod in the post at a high level
others are touted for defense, athlecisim or perimeter game (ie Biliew is just a huge guard)
Lol. I trust my source over your speculation.
And I didn’t say anything about no interest. He reached out to the highest of high majors.
He’s going to get interest this time, too. But it’s not going to be at the Houston level.
Also laughable with you saying I don’t understand the transfer market. A million bigs have entered the portal. You can ask my guys how many names I have given them.
Hint. You can count them on one hand. And you will still have fingers remaining.
Let’s see.
Terrance Arceneaux: source had that one the whole time
Jarace Walker: source had that one the whole time
Ced Lath: not only was he committing, he will enroll early
LJ Cryer: never going to visit K State. Gave me his actual commitment an hour after Cryer gave it to Samp
Damian Dunn: his exact visit date. And his commitment.
My sources are never 100% wrong.
Same source told me the exact day Julian Phillips was going portaling.
Weird.
That’s just in the last two cycles. And not even talking football. Where I get a million times more information. Lol
i was responding to your point that he tried to leave last year and “no one wanted him”… the portal last year was wild…centers were impossible to get…with any context of the portal, and understanding what it was last year, that has little basis in reality that he wasnt wanted… trash centers from mid majors were get p5 offers
we literally brought in bowser… which is what is odd… sampson said we only brought in bowser becuase at the time noted there wasnt much in the portal, that it would be hard to find anyone that could compete for the starting spot, we can atleast shore up our practice… while you are complaining about dandrige not being a sampson player, bowser is extremely soft…
it makes no sense …
sampson has specifically talked about how dandrige was killing us in one of the matchups back in the day… becuase none of our centers could defend Dandridge (who was using picks to get drive, and we had to put Gorham at the 5, who could better stay with him as a driver… dandrige is 6’9 260lbs and were worried about staying with him as a driver)
here are the clip and sampson talking about it:
the only thing that makes sense, is we turned down dandrige for lofton (Every single person would) and the dandrige wasnt an option anymore after lofton stayed in the draft … which makes sense, but then it throws your theory of not wanting him out the window… it wasnt about want but timing
with the context of what the transfer portal was last year, who we ended up getting, and sampsons own words …nothing you are saying is adding up
Sorry. Those weren’t the best words to use. He wasn’t a hot commodity for a top 25 program. He would have drawn plenty of suitors.
“lofton is a done deal” that is wrong… how can you claim 100%
Not sure where my response went. Lol
Lofton to Houston wasn’t a surprise at the end. Kris Gardner had an interview with someone a few weeks after I said it even hinting at Lofton committing.
NBA was never a thought. But it happened. We live and we learn.
We’ll call it 99%, P.
that was odd lol
but despite your hate, im sure if we got lofton’d again youd take dandrige and probably wouldnt even mind.despite your protest… he is a great backup option
TBD. But I can only tell you what I think the staff is going to do. I would not expect him to be on the radar. Like I have been telling everyone with a 5 that has no outside game the entire offseason.
Now. If the 1 guy I have doesn’t actually enter the portal, maybe Samp pivots. But that would require him missing on the 2 other names I have given out privately.
But he’s not doing so until he knows for sure that he won’t get 1 of these 3 names I have mentioned.
I’m also tracking Kaluma. But I have zero information on him right now. So I have not given his name out from a source perspective. Just that I believe the staff will pursue hard.
Nope you are incorrect on my assessment. Carlton was not lazy, didn’t underperform and was recruited over with one of the top players in the country at his position.
I trust Sampson and his decision but assuming any player can come in here and participate to our culture is not realistic. The player must have the intangibles to succeed here
no he was bench, recruited over would have made him 2nd string… he was 3rd string… becase whaley also jumped him (who was already on the team) …if what you were saying was true he would hav been a hot target in the portal… no one wanted him… carlton himself said he was surprised houston called him, he didnt think any goods teams would calls him…
again search carltons name on the uconn forum, there was more hate towards carltom by uconn fans, than there is for dandrige by memphis fans
there is a 12 page thread on the uconn forum exclusively based on debating how fat and slow carlton was
which is what @Joprior23 was saying wasnt said about carlton
there was a celebration thread when he was 1st demoted…
one of my favorite things to do during the final 4 season was to go to the uconn forum, they had 2 long active threads about carlton talking about how they missed him… it felt vindicating from all the bad things they said about him…
again carlton had similar perception to dandrige… revisionist history is needed to change that
His experience would be a plus as well.
