The University has been completely and totally embarrassed!

Yes, but strake is a really sloppy drunk. :joy:

Or so Iā€™ve heardā€¦ā€¦kidding

I just let my humor become a little loosy goosey  got me through much, much, much harder times than what Iā€™m doing now. After a while it sets in that itā€™s just a game and I just want to have a good time seeing everyone

Start taking away his duties and make him uncomfortable. Pez has to go FIRST and the new AD can tighten the noose on this guy. He n

Totally agree. The players are really playing hard. Theyā€™re not quitting. I firming believe the team is showing marked improvement. If we can only get the defense to step it up.

I keep on saying this COACH HOLGORSON HAS THE BEST FACILITIES AND THE LARGEST COACHING POOL $$ OF ANY HEAD COACH IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON

They will probably quit after Texas embarrasses us at home especially if we also lose to WV, there will be no hope of salvaging any type of season and it will go downhill from there

And Iā€™ll bet you say it againā€“just canā€™t help yourself and arrogant enough to believe everyone needs to hear your opinions over and over and over ā€¦

We got it.

But thatā€™s not really a fair comparison.

The relevant question is this: how do CDHā€™s resources, faciliites, and coaching pool $s compare to the rest of the Big 12 and P5?

Iā€™m guessing theyā€™d be on the lower end of the P5, and probably in the bottom half of the Big 12.

That in no way represents a competitive advantage for UH against its current schedule.

That whyā€¦while what you are saying may be factually correctā€¦itā€™s not exactly an apples to apples and oranges to oranges comparison with any predecessor, and is probably not the best basis for criticism of CDH. CDH may still be at a disadvantage in that regard versus most other Big 12 schools.

yesā€¦unlike many on this board who are just happy to support the 'ole alma mater ā€¦ I honestly believe we can be a power if we actually put the pieces in place.

All it takes is alignment and leadership.

The Astros were a meddling mediocre franchise for most of their existenceā€¦and then Jeff Luhnow walked through the door and aligned the whole organization.

Do you honestly believe Pez and Holgs are those pieces?

TCU and Utah were also G5/ non-BCS programs when we were in CUSAā€¦so tell me your excuses, Lambert

Heā€™s the 6th highest paid coach in the Big 12 & his DC is making a million dollars. When he came in 2019 it was a mid P5 salary with our AAC budget.

Then heā€™s just barely above the bottom half of the Big 12.

Where does he rank by P5 standards TODAY in terms of his salary?

No one cares where he ranked in 2019. Live in the present. Pretty sure heā€™d be in the bottom half of the P5 today. And when it comes to facilities and assistant coach pool, heā€™d probably be pretty far down there too. Hell, lowly Illinois already has a football facility similar to the one weā€™ve yet to build. That should tell you where we are on facilities.

As I said, thatā€™s not the best basis for criticizing CDH.

Itā€™s better to look at his on the field performance against Rice, etc. to see just how much we have underachieved.

You forgot money, and lots of it. NIL, buyouts, facilities upgrades. We are way behind, but with Tillmanā€™s help we are not that far behind.

Iā€™m really surprised he hasnā€™t let Belk go this week as a scapegoat, he only makes a million, much cheaper to make that move than for Holgy to get fired

Iā€™m probably gonna guess that with Big 12 revenue shares from media rights youā€™re gonna pay the coach more then you are paying Dana now but at the time it was a hefty contract. And if you want a true apples to apples comparison Dana was by far the highest paid AAC & G5 HC & he didnā€™t win anything

Maybe, but while we were in the G5, he did lead us to a Top 20 finish.

This year thoughā€¦UGH!!!

Wonder if there is any pressure on Dana to turn things around this year? Is this bc the power to be told him heā€™ll get next year regardless and heā€™s just looking forward to next year, OR there is pressure and he canā€™t meet it and knows he is gone end of the year therefore no real motivation to succeed on the field or recruiting?

Either way some things are for certain, Dana has ruined this football program and loss some very loyal fans. If he is back, oof season tix sales will be bad like real bad.

That would be a move in the right direction for sure. Bump that salary up a bit and we could probably lure Todd Orlando back. He was our last descent DC

It depends on what you mean by ā€œpower.ā€ I think itā€™s fairly silly to think we should, for example, be competing for National Championships on a year-in and year-out basis, but we certainly do have the potential to be a consistent top-half team in the Big 12. Thereā€™s no reason we have to be worse than the TCUs and Baylors of the world, much less the WVUs and the Arizonas and the Kansases.

Of course, thereā€™s also the fact that to the best of my knowledge none of us on this board have the power to make the changes weā€™d need to get there. For most of us, our choices are approximately a) support the team, or b) donā€™t.

Since Iā€™m in a constructive frame of mind. Iā€™d say CDH wants to play big boy football. Objectively, weā€™re not able to do that. Thoughts as follows.

  1. CTH was able to be successful on current roster, but not sustainable. Plenty of talent that was sacrificed for one season. Concussions and all
  2. Naghavi. Brought in to help OL. Maybe he needs a year.
  3. DL. Dot is not active. There is no one to step up. And btw the front four has no ability to pressure so maybe stop with pressure seeing as we ainā€™t got any.
  4. Slot receivers and quick passes help. See first half of tech game.
  5. Defense. Belk should be fired. Orlando was much better. Missed tackles again and again.
  6. Blown coverage. On the linebackers. Again and again these guys are out of place. Maybe connected to point 3

This is THE STAT that is irrefutable and is only going to get worse by the end of the year. I mean seriously, I donā€™t see at this point how anyone could possibly believe and argue that CDH should still be here. I think Levine and Apple both had better tenures with MUCH less time and resources to address any issues. He is by far our worst coach, all things considered, in over 20 years. Yeah I said it.
