Like Voltron.
Get it done. 8 more Senators.
Thats an interesting idea.
Not going to happen but I’ll play along.
South Texas, along the border, would be forced into existence to buffer the border wars from the Texas Triangle States. El Paso, Corpus and Brownsville would be the dominant cities and without funding from Austin would struggle immediately.
That state is a given but then it gets interesting when you consider the Texas Triangle and its struggle for power.
Let’s say they break the rest into 3 more states:
West Texas, this would encompass the Northern West Texas and Panhandle areas. Some of the least populated areas in the entire United States. Cities like Amarillo and Abeliene would reign supreme with Odessa producing oil returns and Texas Tech would be the flagship University.
Then, the Texas Triangle would be divided into two more states.
I’ll say one will be the State of Houston, featuring South east Texas to San Antonio bordering South Texas and Louisiana and a little bit of Arkansas. The State of Houston could inact strict restrictions from immigrants passing through South Texas into the State of Houston. Obviously, Houston would be the main city with a strong port, medical and energy industries. San Antonio would boom in this state as Houston would see it as its second city. UH and TAMU would be the two larges
The rest would be the State of Austin or Texas, this consist of the central and north parts of the Texas Triangle. This state would be the strongest. It would feature Austin, Dallas and Ft. Worth and would maintain UT as the main flsgship University.
Texas will have said…we don’t need to divide into 5…4 works!
Or…if they want to be a real power they divide into TWO.
- the Texas Traingle
- leftover low value parts of the state + the border
I don’t care if it happens or not. I just like seeing people get mad about it.
It is a little known right because it is not a right at all.
Y’all are forgetting one thing. There was an act to re-admit Texas to the Union.
All bets are off.
The Texas Pledge of Allegiance ends with "Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible."
Is there anyone getting mad about it?
I’m not referring to the board. I’m referring to the concept of the Republic of Texas and how it elicits consternation, especially from east coasters.
I guess it isn’t something I pay any attention to as I don’t think I really noticed.
Not gonna happen but Houston would become it’s own state then UH would be a flagship with 10 mil or more in than region. We’d be ok.
Houston would totally mop up the other “states” due to our port.
East Coasters don’t have consternation about the Republic of Texas. They never heard of it.
Likewise I would imagine most people living in Texas in 2023 either never heard of it or couldn’t care less.
But it was in the New Yorker magazine! To some, Texas never ceased to be a Republic.
Great story about the Republic of Texas (the 1990s version), btw. A stark reminder of what can go on inside the heads of people around you.
It was in the New Yorker a year and a half ago? I’m sure it was all but forgotten by most.
What the hell does division have to do with this!?
Not true…The Texas that joined the United States has ALREADY divided into other states.
Parts of Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Wyoming and Oklahoma were once part of the Republic of Texas.
We ceeded that land to the United States
Imagine the state legislature being put in charge to draw the borders of the five States. It would look something like this!
Great map. Here is another one.

France was the first country to recognize Texas as a country.
Remember friends that Texas was its own country for ten years.
Eat Em Up has done a lot of research on the subject.
Shout out to Eat Em Up, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays Sir.
I like for us to get the Colorado and New Mexico portions back
