Just heard that John Noud got fired. Why can’t we keep good people?
In your first sentence you said we fired him.
In your second sentence you said why can’t we keep good people.
We fired him. It is hard to keep people you fired. People usually don’t stay after you fire them. Most organizations actually have security walk you out.
By the way, excuse me. Welcome to CoogFans.
Not trying to be snarky on your first post. That is my normal sarcasm.
The prerequisite to keeping good people is hiring good people, and before that, there has to be a vacancy.
Maybe Fritz hires only the best people so when he fires them, he can say it’s hard to keep the best people.
Welcome to the board, we give it and take it sometimes but we are all Coogs and stick together. Welcome to the fray, it’s fun.
Noud has already been wiped clean from the UH online Athletic Staff Directory.
Damn, that’s a shame if that’s the case. I wonder what happened? He was with CP. He worked for UH for a long time, then went to the Rockets for a couple of years, and then returned to UH. He was happy to be back. He was always great, leaned forward to help and answer questions / solve problems, etc. when we dealt with him in the past, and that was regularly.
Fritz doesn’t fire AD personnel. That’s Nunez’s job.
I am afraid that with the hiring of Nunez so close to the start of football season the cleaning house could not start right away, I bet he is not the only one that gets the axe, and they will slowly be replaced with Nunez’s people.
Oh I thought he was a coach. See. I dunno nothin.
We fired the last guy for a reason. One of the main reasons was fundraising. We want change, we have to do things differently.
Given that, it shouldn’t be a surprise that one of the senior development guys wasn’t retained.
Most will be replaced with corporate fundraisers. We’re in a new NIL world. We’ve got athletic salaries to pay across the board. Not just football, basketball, baseball, but all sports. Don’t forget Title IX.
In order to compete in this new world, we’re gonna need millions on a yearly basis. Our alumni base will not cover it. That means we will need serious corporate mon-ee. Hence, UH needs personnel who can schmooze with downtown types.
there’s a reason fundraising is a revolving door - maybe ideas need to change on how to approach fundraising and don;'t assume cause it houston businesses will open their pocketbooks
person politics come into play, people in charge and other factors are reason you can never fundraise successfully
Not surprised. The retention rate of an employee coming back to a former employer is very low. Low hire fruit for both. I see it as a positive sign.
TBH, doesn’t break my heart at all. Best of luck and hope he finds something that is a good fit.
My interactions with John Noud were always positive.
Mine too.
Yep. People offering up “whatevers” obviously never interacted with John.
I can’t speak to his fundraising, but his customer service was absolutely top notch, which set him apart. Sorry to see him go.
The guy was always great with me …for years ! I just do not understand this action. I, for one, wish him well .
Go Coogs…beat KS !
That guy was great.
I’m still not over the fact that he couldn’t send out a freaking email back in August to let us know what the holdup with season tickets was. Word of mouth here tells me it was something parking-related. It was never clarified to me because I wasn’t about to call him during the workday. They did eventually release my tickets, though.
