Recruiting discussion: "Diamonds in the Rough"

I always support the team. I’m wait and see on coaches until they prove something to me. I didnt like his offense as OC (thank you Greg Ward, the only reason it worked). So far I haven’t liked him as HC.

Briles likely bails him out this year. Hope he stays around and makes CMA look good. Also hope CMA doesnt interfere and ruin Briles’ offense

NTX

Because UH and UNT did not play, he showed two opponents they had in common as data. You proceed to pick a team that beat UH and ignore six in-common opponents.

vs Temple, SMU, Memphis, USF, Tulane and Navy
UH 3-2
Tulsa 0-5

Then you try to come back and show one opponent (not two again) that UConn did better against when they had 6 common opponents.

vs ECU, SMU, Memphis, Temple, Tulsa, USF
UH 4-2
UConn 2-4

You’ve completely thrown logic out the window.

You know it will only ramp up after the first incomplete pass is thrown or the first time the cornerbacks line up 5 yards off the line. haha

The UNT talk on this board concerns me. UNT? Really? Not to be an elitist, but, UNT vs UH do you want to talk facilities? Conferences, etc? Really?

To be fair the UNT head coach had a pretty nice record as a P5 offensive coordinator. They might have found their Art Briles. Wouldn’t be surprised if they sell out their stadium several times this year. That still puts them a good 10 years behind UH and they possibly lose the coach if UNT wins the conference. If they ride the momentum to more facility upgrades and quality coaching hires, wouldn’t be surprised if they were in talks to join the AAC in 5 years. That is a lot of ifs though.

If we are blitzing on the play, I will be one of those bitching about the cornerbacks laying back !!!

Sure, he beat Louisville and OU but he could not motivate them to beat SMU (1 of 3 AAC wins!!!), Navy and Memphis?

That was a tough early stretch starting with Oklahoma and Cincinnati on the road. Those boys were on fumes when they faced Navy and SMU.
Ask anyone who follows college football what they recall about UH that season. The loss at SMU or beatdown of Oklahoma.

Did UConn play Tulsa? Yes. Did Houston play Tulsa? Yes. UConn beat Tulsa. We didn’t. So UConn was better than us. Thats the same argument that was made because about us being better than UNT because we beat SMU and UNT didnt

I live in the Denton area so I follow UNT to some extent. We have better facilities and a better conference. But UNT had a better record and has a better coach.

And you’re right, UNT shouldn’t be in the discussion with UH. That’s the problem. They are.

Throw in FAU too

You are really off your rocker on this one. He showed TWO examples of UH playing better against the same opponents. You bring up UConn beating Tulsa and ignore UConn losing to ECU, SMU and USF. All three of those teams UH beat. Trolls make better arguments.

Do yourself one favor, look back at the season and rank all the teams in the conference from best to worst. See if there is anyway you can rank UConn or Tulsa above Houston in the list without having UConn or Tulsa above 3 teams they lost to or Houston below 3 teams they beat.

How about 9 wins, division champs, all losses to bowl teams vs 7 wins and 2 losses to teams with losing records including a 2 win team?

And keep in mind, we didn’t just lose to a 2 win team, we weren’t competitive. We lost by 28 points. We scored 17 points on the 118th ranked scoring defense that gave up 37.5 PPG. A Tulsa team that the week before gave up 62 points and 650 yards to Tulane.

And you say 2 examples. Both teams beat Rice. Thats even. I dont care the score.

Easy… Tulsa beat UH (by 4 TDs) ergo Tulsa better than UH. Want to argue against that?

EDIT: and if you don’t agree with that point because its one game, you can’t argue based on one game vs common opponents.

You didn’t rank all the teams. That is the challenge. Start with Tulsa ahead of UH and now rank Temple, SMU, Memphis, USF and Navy so we can all have a good laugh.

You don’t seem to get that I’m not arguing UH had a better team/season than UNT. I just said your examples about Tulsa and UConn in your argument are venturing on borderline trolling.

Neither am I. It’s as if he’s a tu troll and upset with CMA because he’s a former horn that’s somehow embarrassing him…

Easy
UH beat Temple, SMU, Memphis and USF
Tulsa lost to Temple, SMU, Memphis and USF

Now rank UH, Tulsa, SMU, Memphis and USF, keeping Tulsa above UH and not looking like a total fool.

I guarantee you CMA would not be blown out by the same opponent twice in the same season. FAU?Dude couldn’t crack the code the second time, and no larger schools came calling… How is Seth Littrell a better coach?

im not a troll…people are just butthurt at my sports takes because i keep it real and dont sugarcoat anything. im clearly a die hard UH fan so stop while you are ahead because you really dont want to go there.

You can’t guarantee that. You have absolutely no data on that. In fact, didn’t Applewhite get out-coached in halftime adjustments most of the season?

How is Seth a better coach? He had a better record than his predecessor two straight years. His offenses at Indiana and North Carolina run circles around what Applewhites offenses had at UT and UH. Seth Litrell has never spent a year unemployed. He has already got commitments from 10 - 3 star players in a smaller stadium, smaller fanbase, less resources and in a lesser conference.

We will have more data after Applewhite coaches more but there is definitely more of an argument than Seth is better than Applewhite than vice versa.
