OT: Per Stub Hub SMU ticket sales increased 1403%

You know what’s cool?

Winning your conference and having a shot at the playoffs.

It would be awesome to be less cool and win more.

I have patients here in Dallas, gassing up the private jets for the suite on the 50 yd line. Said it was too cold to sit “outside”…

Which they could have done more easily in the AAC.

Maybe they’ll win the ACC.

Kudos to them if they do.

But I hope not.

At the end of the day, they couldn’t even beat the third best Big 12 team at home.

Winning big = Ticket sales
Dallas Forth Worth = Ticket sales
We have seen the same trend when we win. There are no surprises there.

Everything?? Cmon, they bribed the ACC and spent and will refuse to receive hundreds of millions of dollars! Spoiled rich kids bribe their way into ACC…I hope Clemson kicks their *** !!

Where they are now is ten times better than where they would be in the AAC.

Monte, yes they did and the system let them do it. I can’t stand smu but you are barking at the wrong tree. What upsets me is that they are making headways in TEXAS. We should be in that spot not them. dh has cost us dearly. We have to win quick, real quick.

You’re assuming too much. They didn’t have the financial commitment necessary to do that. Donors changed their approach with the ACC move. Without that move, there’s no reason to think anything would have changed.

Pitt and TCU are pretty solid. Cal is okay in the sense that they won at Auburn, which A&M couldn’t do. BYU loss was when SMU was playing two QBs and BYU changed defenses to a 3/4 to counter Preston Stone’s lack of running ability. We’ll see tomorrow night. Solid year with AAC talent (per CDH).

FSU ticket prices were quite high. SMU hosted teams that brought fans, like FSU, TCU and BYU. Even Pitt brought a decent amount of fans.

This.

And you can bet the money flowed faster when associated with Duke, Virginia, Stanford, Georgia Tech, Cal, Boston College, UNC…rather than North Texas, FAU, Charlotte, UAB, Memphis, etc…

SMU isn’t the school it was in the 80s. It’s rising quickly up academic ladders and being in the ACC will just speed things up.

Even UH could beat TCU.

Yawn.

They’re R2.

We are not cool kids either. It is so cringy when you nail someone else and we suck as a program.

Just face it. We are the worst program - the absolute worst. Crap attendance, crap money, crap people, crap team. So stop knocking SMU and others who have done better.

R1/R2, wow we are sooo elite. We all know those rankings mean nothing - anybody can get them. We can’t beg people to come to games, but hey we’re the cool kids

Yeah, I imagine they weren’t selling very high when this was their home slate last year. Getting TCU, BYU, and FSU at home is, uh…a little bit of an improvement over a season where your best home opponent was a 5-7 Navy team.

Except SMU apparently.

And yes, we are cooler.

As evidenced by how much more we are making from media.

We didn’t have to pay for a seat at the cool kids’ lunch table.

We were cool enough to be invited there without that.

For now, but not next year. SMU has done better. And they should be proud. They have money.

And I would not think we are cool. We will be relegated, just like the SWC.

Please please don’t say market size.

And you imagine that they won’t?

Last I checked….no one is suing the Big 12 in an effort to break it up or leave it.

SMU buying its way into the cool kids’ club was enough to make the ACC’s two biggest brands do exactly that.

Speaks volumes about how UNcool they are.

And they’re winning. What is wrong with their logic?

So?

How many ranked finishes have they had in the last 40 years?

Hint: ONE.

Color me unimpressed.

You’re too easily impressed by the uncool kids.

As are you. UH is not a cool kid.
