Sounds like Baylor is worried they won’t make the final cut

Coincidentally, this comes shortly after Utah HC Kyle Whittingham commented on the super league in his latest presser (skip to the 16:00 mark)
She going to hear crickets from the B1G and SEC.
Yep, that is exactly what’s happening according to Thamel’s sources
Either way this is not good. For this to come out is not coincidental. What “triggered” this sudden urge for this meeting? Your guess is as good as mine.
Don’t you think she would want to build a coalition before just throwing something out there?
You can be sure that #1 we are not pervy of what prior discussions took place. These types of leaks do not happen by accident.
Every realignment has been a colossal surprise to all until we find out that negotiations were going on for over a year. We gotta keep improving and win quickly.
They gone
Well said
I for one am happy that realignment talk kinda got backseated as the football season began, but I’m still interested to see what happens with the ACC and this supposed “extension option” with ESPN in February
Perhaps it’s the trigger to the dominoes falling
The last time we “heard” some noise…Unfortunately it is so easy to draw conclusions.
Most likely a reaction from one of the have nots (ACC, B12, and PAC??) to the haves (B10 and SEC) meeting in October 2024, about the future of college football and not being invited. I’m just guessing, but I think the haves think they are better than the have nots.
You’re an amazing guesser!
BYU ranked the way they are is a REFLECTION of the haves and the haves not…
I hate all those greedy pigs
Something about this makes me uncomfortable. I think it’s because UH spent so much time in CUSA and the American. Had it not been for our good fortune, we would be in he “have not” category, and watching the ‘Fat Cats’ getting even fatter. We are not so far removed, no?
That’s fine, but realize that most everyone in the American conference is saying the same things about the coogs currently. It’s all about money today, the NIL is a perfect reflection of that. This is going to continue until it blows up for everyone in college football; it’s just a matter of time until the superleague at this point.
enjoy the coogs in the Big12 while it exists is the best that can be done.
My observation is consistent with our arrival in the b12. Greed drives a perpetual state of survival. The athletic departments are on the verge of casting the institutions aside and functioning as their own corporations. Ironically the conference that cheated the most pre-NIL can now use that leverage to create their own mafia.
I don’t understand this angle. How can a university’s athletic brand separate from its university? The university is what gives the football team its value. Alums have a connection to something tangible, which is why they care about it in the first place.
There’s also another huge issue in the hypothetical scenario that college football teams separate from universities. How are they going to remain sustainably competitive without a formal draft?
If the Crimson Tide is no longer affiliated with the University of Alabama, then why would any alums donate to their “NIL”? Is it really NIL at that point to pay the salaries of professional athletes? What for? Many kids attend Alabama that are from out-of-state such as Texas. Why would they care about the Crimson Tide Professional Football Team if they are only in Tuscaloosa Alabama for 4 years of their lives?
It just doesn’t make any sense. If the Cougars Football Team separates from University of Houston, then it’s just another XFL-type scenario. I care much more about the Houston Texans than I ever would a football team that isn’t connected to UH.
Greed, greed and more greed - they do what it takes to compete than whine when it comes time to pay up cause they didn’t regulate the system they created -
They want to limit others from achieving the same dream they have so they don’t have to share the wealth
So at the end they whine and want to tax their own folks to finance their dreams or create their own micro leagues because they want more power and less regulation to a system they created when people decades ago told them straight up what was going to happen if they abolished certain things
its how this country was built, greed lol
