New Realignment Rumor: Stanford to B1G at permanently reduced shares

The rumor is that Stanford is in secret talks to join the B1G at permanently reduced shares (not just 10 or so years) to induce Notre Dame to come home.

Not saying it’s likely, but Stanford is probably the one school with a big enough endowment to eat the cost!

Listen.

The other one going round is Kansas to SEC after the ACC realignment starts

That rumor makes since. If Stanford could convince Notre Dame to join the B1G, the B1G would definitely take Stanford at a permanent reduced rate.

…but wait didn’t you tell us ad nauseum that the big10 would never, ever consider Stanford?
Peulllllllllllllllllllease.

…but…but …I thought we weren’t moving towards a 2 x 24 P2 environment?

Who says we are?

ND and Stanford would only take the B1G to 20.

And that’s even if this were true. I have a hard time believing it personally, but it’s another rumor out there.

Remember though. Even the Big 12 didn’t want Stanford, so that makes any rumor such as this VERY far fetched.

I did.

As I said, I don’t think that this rumor is likely (see my response to 1927 for more detail on that).

But it’s out there.

Yup.

I’m just saying it’s out there.

Doesn’t mean it’s happening.

In the new NIL world…Stanford could easily rise to the top of the College Football World IF they wanted to.

Their Endowment is $36.5 BILLION and they sit in the San Francisco Bay Area

Hasn’t helped them much thus far.

lol - people act like we can go into the endowment like a bank account - the reason that endowment is that big is partly due to folks who gives rats azz about athletics knowing it won’t be used for that

If endowments mattered, the Ivy League and MIT would also dominate. Rice also says hello.

It comes down to who your leadership is, do they care about athletics and what it can do for your university. Obviously Stanford does not care or cannot get players to San Francisco.

She thinks endowments matter :joy:

NIL world JUST STARTED!

The ACC move might have woke up a Sleeping Giant among their BMDs

they have to be the richest school in the P4

Ivies and MIT have ZERO interest in Power level Athletic Programs.

On the other hand,Stanford:

Stanford’s program has won 135 NCAA team championships, the most of any university. Stanford has won at least one NCAA team championship each academic year for 48 consecutive years, starting in 1976–77 and continuing through 2023–24. Through January 2024, Stanford athletes have won 552 individual NCAA titles.

Stanford has won 26 of the 29 NACDA Directors’ Cups, awarded annually to the most successful overall college sports program in the nation, including 25 consecutive Cups from 1994–95 through 2018–19.

Not seeing Stanford ever being an NIL revenue sports powerhouse.

Not enough interest in those sports from their alumni base, nor for college sports in the Bay area.

Those titles are generally in non-revenue sports with little publicity.

NIL ain’t much of a thing for those.

Random YouTuber says Stanford is rumored to be talking with the b1G

Must be true
