That’s not a secret or hidden. I don’t remember how I know that but I certainly do.
Unfortunately, it is hard to remember when I learned certain things. I certainly was never taught they didn’t have slaves but do remember being taught at some point that some would take slaves as part of war.
Here’s the alleged lies from the book…
I wasn’t taught any of those in school other than about the 3/5 compromise.
I was taught a lot about those events that allowed me to form my own opinion. Such as, I believe McCarthyism was a moral panic. I think it is irrelevant if it “caught” communists, because our first amendment rights allow someone to be a communist. I also know communism and socialism don’t work, as I learned in school and through life. But in the USA you’re free to be a communist, a Nazi, a Christian Nationalist, an Aggie, and all sorts of other undesirables.
I find it interesting that #4 and 5 aren’t just one thing like the others.

And no, I wasn’t taught most of that. I grew up in Texas is the '80s.

Everyday at school the teachers started our lessons by praising the virutues of Hippies and free love. Lol
But i am interested in what the point of the Vietnam war was? My uncle went back and got to go to the bridge that he repeatedly bombed during the war. No teacher told me Vietnam was pointless, can Stossel tell me what the point was?

I taught a junior level American history class for a year at Pearland High School before moving to AP English. The crap about liberal indoctrination is just that—crap. We had a chapter on Native American culture but nowhere did the book or I say they were innocent and that they were exploited by white settlers. We studied the alphabet programs of FDR and the conservative movement with Reagan. I remember when I was at Rayburn in the 90s there was a committed Republican with a picture of Dutch on his door teaching history. And you could probably find some progressive teachers, but by and large the idea of teachers pushing ideologies is crap. Not much time to do that anyway with the TEKS that have to be taught.

What is not taught hardly at all is the European diseases that wiped out 90% of the population in the Americas.
Pre European contact, the Americas had great cities and great civilizations that were far grander than anything in Europe at that time.
Small pox wiped out 90% of the population and forests reclaimed what was farmland.

I was taught the conquistadores conquered the Aztecs. BS. Small pox conquered all the Americas and in doing so caused a mini ice age.

I was literally taught as much about indentured servants as I was slavery…like they were the same. Total BS.
