Well ok if you don’t want accept Columbus as a jew.
Can we focus on all the other Jewish accomplishments?
Pretty damn impressive.

He didn’t Colonialize anything. He made two trips.
You are just trying to bash him.
How?
Are you ok?
The Jews have succeeded at levels that no other people have.
They are an amazing people.
Right?
Wrong,
Columbus made four transatlantic voyages: 1492–93, 1493–96, 1498–1500, and 1502–04.
Why can’t you let a thread on antisemitism remain on topic. You already derailed this thread before.
They have won 215 Nobel prizes. That is 110 TIMES their population representation.
Doesn’t anyone stop and ask WHY?
Are we afraid to ask WHY?
Sure, start a thread about them. Also make sure to celebrate Jewish American Heritage month in May.
What’s your answer on why? Unfortunately I do fear this conversation is leaning towards an antisemitic trope.
Yeah, I took up for you man. Don’t go there.
Is it not impressive what they have accomplished?
They have won 51% of the Pulitzers for non fiction.
This is a people who were almost wiped out by the Nazis and radical Muslims.
Why are they so successful? Shouldn’t we be looking at that?
I repeat.
Great question. My personal theory is that they focus on education more than any other group.
They are not genetically superior. They have a culture of education.
They focus less on what they don’t have and focus on education and entrepreneurship. Other groups could do the same.
They train the important muscle.
This is from Mark Twain in the 19th century
[The Jews] are peculiarly and conspicuously the world’s intellectual aristocracy… [Jewish] contributions to the world’s list of great names in literature, science, art, music, finance, medicine, and abstruse learning are… way out of proportion to the weakness of his numbers. He has made a marvelous fight in this world… and has done it with his hands tied behind him.
People hate em because they ain’t em….that last sentence was not from Mark Twain.
Fair enough, but some of my Asian friends and coworkers are really big into education and really push their kids.
Education is a factor for sure.
Let’s try an out of the box answer. Maybe being prosecuted and marked for centuries has been a motivational factor ? Yeah, I know that sounds screwy; kinda
like slavery was “beneficial” to black Americans.
Bottom line…I don’t know.
I actually think Asian Americans are the next Jews for that very reason. When a group focuses on education and entrepreneurship good things happen.
Columbus Day my arse!
Columbus was a cruel, sadistic, murdererous, genocidal, homicidal megalomaniacal, maniac. Who the King of Spain in prisoned for a while for his inhumane crimes. Another thing he would have never been able to sail if not for his Moorish (Muslim,) maps and navigator he had on his ship.
But, I digress
.
This man is no one to be honored or celebrated. Only reason why the holiday exist is Italian Americans wanted to show how American they really were after being discriminated against and a mass lynching of them in New Orleans (made international headlines) , white folk in Louisiana looked at them as they did black Americans at the turn of century) and lobbied for a holiday honoring Columbus) and also lobbied to have there selves categorize as white folk.
He kidnapped a native woman and gave her to his crew to rape her.
He ordered a woman’s tongue cut out for having “spoken ill of the Admiral and his brothers.”
Another woman was “stripped and placed on the back of a donkey … to be whipped” as punishment for falsely claiming to be pregnantHe even ordered the ears and nose cut off one miscreant, who was also whipped, shackled, and banished from the island. He ordered a cabin boy’s hand nailed in public to the spot where he had pulled a trap from a river and caught a fish. Whippings for minor infractions occurred with alarming frequency. Columbus ordered one wrongdoer to receive a hundred lashes — which could be fatal — for stealing sheep, and another for lying about the incident. An unlucky fellow named Juan Moreno received a hundred lashes for failing to gather enough food for Columbus’s pantry.
Benjamin Keen, a historian of the Spanish conquest of the Americas, noted that multiple sources confirmed accounts of “exhausted Indian carriers, chained by the neck, whose heads the Spaniards severed from their bodies so they might not have to stop to untie them.”
This thread is gonna go the distance. I can already tell.
Jews have won the world chess championship 54% of the time since 1866 but they only make up 0.2% of the population.
Have they thought about going into coaching?
This is noteworthy…
The United States has the highest number of Nobel laureates in the world, with over 420 Nobel laureates. Around 71% of all Nobel Prizes have been awarded to Americans ; around 29% of them are immigrants from other nations. Not all of them are of Jewish descent.
I think that’s partly due to US being a wealthy enough country to fund top tier universities.
On the 29% being immigrants, that’s a good argument for having a healthy immigration policy. Did your source list any details about immigrant Nobel winners ?
Immigration Laws Make A Difference
The report notes that two laws helped America attract outstanding talent. In 1965, ending the discriminatory national origin quotas allowed immigrants from Asia and elsewhere to study and live in the United States. The Immigration Act of 1990 raised employment-based green card numbers, although more than three decades later, the increase has proven insufficient.
