Hows the crowd look?

I literally quoted someone who said it was full. I find it utterly bizarre how disconnected to reality this board is when it comes to discussing attendance.

This. That start time was a perfect storm (by UH standards) for hideous attendance. Yet despite that we had a really good chunk of people there at 6pm.
People are coming around. Iā€™d still like more students, personally. But Iā€™d take last Saturday for a 6pm in Sept any day of the week.

Put down that mirror Chris!

And I thought Florida State was just incredible!

And you said it was 60 percent capacity, which is complete hogwash. So donā€™t tell us weā€™re disconnected from reality when you posted that BS.

Tickets counted was almost 38k. Let it go.

Wasnā€™t referring to you Mike, just an over all assessment of our fans. Hoping we turn the corner come B12 time.

Astrodomeitis is what Houston has been diagnosed with. If the sun is out, itā€™s lethal to go to an outdoor game.

My two were home with COVID (gave tickets to friends) but watching on tv there was a helluva difference in how crowded the stadium looked at game start vs once the sun went down. Iā€™d imagine a lot were on the concourse in the shade until it got dark. Iā€™ve done that myself on those days where the sun was baking.

Did Amon G. Carter look like everyone was staying on the concorse when TCU played Colorado at 11AM? According to The Weather Channel, both Ft. Worth and Houston had the same high temperature on Saturday, and our game started at 6PM.

I thought it was a late arriving, but respectable crowd. The traffic was really backed up on Scott. I sat in traffic 45 minutes and I was one of the late arrivers I got to my seat at 6:45. Iā€™m still not talking to the Ms. for missing most of the first quarter and UH score.

The high at 11AM is not the same as the high at 6PM. Even though upper 80ā€™s is hot, itā€™s not like hitting 100 with humidity. It usually hits 100 mid-afternoon.

Way too soon but weather 2 weekends from now looks promising if believed.

UH travelled better to San Antonio than UTSA travelled to Houston.

I donā€™t think you can see the game on the concourse at Amon Carter.

For the recordā€¦I thought the crowd looked fine on TV. At kickoff, it was better than I was expecting. I usually donā€™t bring up attendance or criticize since I canā€™t attend due to a medical condition. Last five times Iā€™ve attended any sporting event, be it UH or a high school game, Iā€™ve had seizures and following Dr orders.

Sorry late to this thread, I too am in that photo and here is an earlier photo showing many of the almost empty rows with people in them. People walk around during football games especially low scoring games like that one, I even made a lap in the third quarter. It was not 100% full but I would say closer to 85-90% with some fill ins from the upper deck. The upper decks are uncomfortable at full occupancy so I can imagine 70% can look full once people separate and move to the empty seats in the lower bowl. Ultimately based on the demand on the secondary and everything I would say we had 28k actual people plus or minus 10%. No matter how hard you try every ticket will not be used, I have 2 extra season tickets I bought to give away to customers and gave them to a guy who was gung ho about going and he didnā€™t, TCU will be better and UT will be hell.

The future is in tv eyeballs to justify espn paying the bucks so, as long as you have the tv on, thatā€™s just as good.

Attendance threads for uh games are silly.

Question for you die-hards and traditionalistsā€¦

How many of yaā€™ll realize that The Spirit of Houston, like the bands of blue blood schools, have performed essentially the same pregame show every game for over 20 years now with all the crowd participation songs (fight song, the horse, eat em up, etc)

As a former band member, I envy the schools who pack the stands 20 minutes before kickoff to yell and cheer.

I donā€™t make it to every game anymore but when I do, Iā€™m there to sing the Alma Mater before and after.

We talk about wanting more tradition. Seems like an easy way to do that.

Hopefully that changes. It got loud pregame in the rob for a few games.
