I was born in the RGV and grew up in a house without AC. Heck, I didn’t get to experience AC on a consistent basis until high school. But in my old age I can’t deal with high heat for long periods of time. I have 4 season tix in the lower bowl on the home side. Even in the shade, I had to go to the open area concourse to get a breeze and cooler temps until half time. I feel for the folks on the visitor’s side…
Our stadium has that great concourse design. I would say much those “empty seats” are really folks hanging out in the concourse until the solar flare heat subsides…or are just in the AC in the club. I mean, if I had club access that’s where I would park myself.
Yeah, I was basically down for the count yesterday from sitting in the heat on Saturday, and I’m one of the younger people on the board. I do not blame anyone for showing up late; I remember a game in Kyle Field a couple years ago that was 10 degrees cooler than Saturday’s weather and still damn near killed me. I’ve said for a while that I wouldn’t mind playing our August/September games in NRG, and I get the feeling that this year is really gonna drill that opinion home for me.
The complaints about attendance after the best attended game in damn near a decade sound awfully suspicious to me.
Our fans do not suck particularly the ones who attend games or they wouldn’t really be fans, would they?
This fanbase isn’t monolithic or even homogeneous. It is diverse and maybe a little smaller if not more punctual in getting to their seats or hanging out on the concourse.
If you look at the screen on the top photo it looks like 5:50 left in first quarter. I can’t tell when the other two were taken but by the looks of the sun, I would think sometime in the 2nd quarter.

Not sure why it looked that empty when the picture was taken but it was pretty full most of the game.
Any picture in the daylight doesn’t account for the blistering sun. Many people were sheltering out of the sun until about 7:15-7:30. The good news is TCU is at 7 pm and should be a full house.
