Why did coach go off on the reporter that pronounced Gonzaga CORRECTLY?
The school is named after an Italian born Jesuit Saint and the Italian pronunciations of HIS last name, the actual man the school is named after, is pronounced

Haha, I know some people who went there and they definitely didn’t pronounce it the way Sampson said. I guess it’s whatever though
The Gonzaga fans were happy he did it so coach must’ve been correct.

That street is named after an English family.
Our American pronunciation is from a multi-generational Scot-Irish family with roots in Scotland.
Gonzaga, is literally a school named after an Italian Jesuit Aristocrat

Some people I know (from Texas) pronounce Houston as Yoo-stun (ie without a hint of the H)

Again… it may be founded after a person but after a hundred years it could be pronounced differently… aka colloquial…
