He’ll yes…. I would love for us to spend on a legit lefty out of the pen….not some cheap waiver wire crap….minors have nothing in AA or AAA…. Some good possibilities in the A’s ( low and high) but still a couple years away.
This has nothing to do with the move you suggested….but Not letting Yainer get a handful or starts to get a bit of rhythm drives me nuts about Dusty….might as well have kept him in AAA.
And for the love of God….Dubon does not belong on any major league roster let alone a 100 win team headed to the playoffs….we have multiple guys in AAA that player better defense and would easily out hit him….Dusty’s love affair with him is bizarre.
@DanielPlainview You mentioned earlier in the year that you thought Gausman was the better pitcher to Verlander and that Verlander would regress as the season went on. That everyone was chasing Guasman for the Cy Young? Do you remember that?
Yes I remember that, I was wrong. Whats your point?
That being said, Gausman still has had a really good seson. 5.5 fWAR to JV’s 5.8
My point? That you were wrong. Yes, Gausman is awesome.
Went back and scrolled through some of the early posts on the original thread. Couple things popped out. I made a dont panic post a month into the season because we were only 14-11 and some of yall were already on the leadge. Currently 102-54 with the 2nd best record in the league. Lmao
Also I asked on May 10th if it was to early to start the JV Cy Young campaign? With a week to go, JV is a 12-1 betting favorite making him a virtual lock at this point to reclaim the AL Cy Young.
Hhhmm….I’ll have to go back and see how some of our post ( including mine) have aged this season……🫣
Interesting stat. Since the All Star Break the Astros have 3 players in the top 10 of the majors in OPS. (Alvarez, Altuve and Bregman). No other team has more than 1 player in the top 10.
What is crazy is Judge’s OPS since the all star break is 1.327. That is unbelievable.
As a team the Yanks are hitting .237/.316/.402/.719 since the All-Star break, and that includes Judge’s stellar .360/.509/.818/1.327 line. I maintain they wouldn’t even be a playoff team without him. His offensive WAR numbers for the season are tied for 22nd all-time with Ted Williams '46 and Ty Cobb’s '11 seasons. Pretty damn good company.
So you’re telling me that if Judge flops in the playoffs, as he did in 2017, the Yanks will be gone!
What I’m saying is their offense is a one man show. Just pitch around him in high leverage situations. They’ve got nothing else to burn us with. Stros in 4 if it comes to it.
Stanton always seems to pop an opposite field homer off of us.
Yankee fans are dumb….every time the pitcher throws a breaking ball to Judge the boo….I mean the pitcher should just throw middle in fastballs to the almighty Judge right? Lol
Yankee fans are idiots. They’re supposed to be so sophisticated on baseball. Just a bunch of drunk hellions
This would make me throw him nothing but breaking pitches in every at-bat. Boo louder, whiners!
Jake is making a play for that CF spot. I hope that dude proves me wrong.
I’d rather have Jake than Dufreakinbon.
On August 7, Javier’s ERA was 3.14. Now his ERA is 2.54. Over the past 10 starts he has given up 10 runs, zero runs over the past 4 starts. He should be the Astros #4 starter, maybe better.
Dusty….are you paying attention?
Definitely agree- I got on Coogfans right now to say the exact same thing- but you beat me to it! He deserves to be the #4 starter in the playoffs!
It’ll be interesting to see who makes the Astros 26 player playoff roster with a limit of 13 pitchers.
My guess….
Verlander
Valdez
McCullars
Javier
Urquidy
Garcia
Brown
Presley
Montero
Stanek
Neris
Abreu
Maton or Smith?
Offense….
Maldonado
Vasquez
Gurriel
Altuve
Peña
Bregman
Diaz
Tucker
McCormick
Mancini
Meyers
Alvarez
Hensley
