Missed opportunity by the Pac-12 imo. Would have given them the 8 full-time members they needed.
I believe the Pac-12 will offer Memphis and other AAC schools, a lot more money than the $2M previously offered.
Everything with the PAC and MWC right now is just a chaotic mess
Itâs meaningless
PAC-12 has 7 football schools. They canât guarantee anyone what the next TV contract will be. Tulane has already said cost of travel would be an issue. Memphis is probably their target, but I think the PAC-12 is going to have to pay a lot more of the $27 million exit fee before they will come back to the negotiation table.
Tulane, Memphis, UTSA, and USF were guaranteed $2.5 million towards the exit fee ($27 million). Would they offer Memphis alone $10 million and would that be enough of the $27 million exit fee to attract Memphis? Theyâd still be $17 million in the hole and as of now, have no idea what the TV contract will be like.
But, rich getting richer, Austin Journal reporting UT paid players $15.5 million last year. Didnât say just football, but I would assume so.
John McClain tweeted that he heard Texasâ NIL was $30M. Unclear if itâs for football or all sports. He opined he thought that was low for Texas.
Would make sense that is all sports, and half going to football.
Set for Monty X 2 on current MWC v wacPAC.
St Marys to PAC mention.
Sacramento State in the boot holster.
Tough climb from lower scholarship FCS.
Sac State more an ideal 12th member but a sure thing based on $ raising.
Top FBS G5 NIL @ 3/4 to $1 million now.
To get an idea of $$$ in SEC.
Remember Brian Battie vs UH.
2x AA at USF now at Auburn.
Brian & his brother were shot at Bradenton, FL hookah bar.
Battie just started walking again. Brother died. (FAU ? commit)
From the reporting Battie was getting @ $ 1/4 million.
4th in SEC average KR in 23.
Distance wise, Memphis in the PAC-12 would be worse than Temple in The American.
Straight line distance between Memphis andâŠ
Colorado St.: 901 miles
Utah St.: 1,261 miles
Boise St.: 1,508 miles
San Diego St.: 1,560 miles
Washington St.: 1,616 miles
Gonzaga: 1,650 miles
Fresno St.: 1,662 miles
Oregon St.: 1,864 miles
They might want a reimbursement for travel miles as part of the contract.
The PAC-12 will have to pay a lot more than $10M if Memphis is going alone. Since they would not have a travel partner, Memphis would require additional conference payout for all sports travel. The AAC is not going to keep their non-revenue sports.
The only other option, would be for Memphis to have only football in the Pac-12 and basketball and other sports in the Big East. But that would not give the Pac-12 its 8th full member.
I read that if a PAC-12 member competes in a sport sponsored by the conference, they must compete as a PAC-12 member in that sport.
That kills the football only idea if true.
American w no extra $ for Memphis as the bell cow left.
Unusual situation got UNLV, etc that $.
Wait it out till next huge move probably.
Losing a tiny % of fans every year in AAC just a sunken cost.
And the BE for all but Football.
However improbable.
Memphis set up nice w current recruiting ground.
PAC move needs to be real $$$.
How will NIU and Toledo survive with the increased travel? Is the money that much better?
The PAC Light has no TV deal in place yet, so we donât know.
But the MACâs TV deal is the worst anywhere. Even has Tuesday and Wednesday games.
Hard to imagine the PAC Lightâs deal being worse.
Seems like CUSA has been cornering the Tue/Wed TV market. I havenât seen much MAC attack on the airwaves this year. It was fun to see a few hundred winless Kennesaw State fans rush the field after beating undefeated Liberty.
ACC and Big 12 are taking big networks on Thu/Fri and Andre Ware has the Friday night ESPN coverage.
I swear if Nebraska & Florida State joined the Big 12, they would probably win some actual games!
But noâŠ. MONEY MONEY MONEY
I just saw on Twitter that the MWC is apparently adding Cal-Davis; presumably they will elevate their program to I-FBS.
