Future Realignment Thread

Now that the best source is reporting this, it seems likely.

Big 12, UConn in discussions for Huskies to join Big 12 in football in 2031 & all other sports in 2026, sources told @ActionNetwork. Big 12 presidents must approve, but commish Brett Yormark has been long-time proponent of the Huskies, sources said

This all tells me the ACC will definitely stay together

This is telling me kind of the samething, no FSU/Clemson to B12 imho. So he’s moved on to make a splash with UConn. Not liking this move if it happens

I just don’t see the real value of adding them. We currently have enough quality, their BB is good, nothing else is, and the B12 is very good as is with BB.

Especially this close to the February deadline
there is no rush to add UCONN right now

Plus
they are in the Big East.

Yes, the Big 12 is a great Basketball conference, but so is the Big East

Thats my thing. Can we wait until March to start sniffing around the Uconn tree again.

Not sure I agree.

This simply takes away another backfill option for the ACC.

So
we add 3 ACC schools instead of 4 now?

Wonder if this was leaked to get certain ACC schools to commit to the Big 12, contingent upon the news in February .

So whats the ideal Basketball focused Trio that we can land (assuming we do take UCONN)?

  • Duke
  • L-Ville
  • NC-State/UVA

Also Miami

Yeah, Miami is a strong basketball and adds football and a neighbor to UCF

This makes since to me that it’s inevitable UConn join the Big 12, because Yormark/Big 12 would not leak this if they did not already have the 12 votes.

It’s going to be unanimous because presidents do not want the negative attention of being the villain especially if they know it’s going to pass.

BY is a genius. Haha.

What football investment guarantees does UConn have to make?

Could also be leaked to keep FSU from entertaining an invite to the B12.

If this was basketball only I could get on board but football? No way.

No one one passing on a University with 7.34M potential eyeballs in there viewership area in football crazy part of the nation. Some of the stuff up here people speculate and say and think is quite laughable.

Not disagreeing, but to which school or schools are you specifically referring?
