Discussion: Slade Nagle named UH Offensive Coordinator

I think you’re right on all counts. I’m definitely not maligning the guy for his decision.

I trust Fritz hired the man he felt is best for the job. Barbay clearly wasn’t a good choice. Fritz has experience working with Nagle.

Yes. I think all of us could call a run up the middle on first down every series for far less money.

That crowd noise was high tech then.

Perfectly reasonable to pass on the job last year for family, but dude made us suffer through a year of Barbay!!! Lol. He owes us a great offense in 2025!

This guy gets it - talking about adapting to personnel and what they do well.

He’s already a better OC than Barbay.

He seems like a solid guy. Looking forward to 2025.

It was a good presser. Good questions and answers. Nagle definitely talks like a competent OC. Lets hope that shows on the field next season

The last guy did that, too, as did Fritz. Hopefully we’ll actually see it.

I remember Fritz complaining publicly about the need to adapt to personnel, so it was obviously a problem for Barbay.

It’s good to know Nagle won’t take 5 games to start adapting.

He certainly seems to have a better presence about him than Barbay did. I’m excited about this hire.

Duarte and I were the only media that showed up for Nagle, but that’s been the case all year. “24/7”

Nagle is relaxed but intense. Much more at ease when cameras were off (more so than most people). They are focused on OL in the portal, but acknowledged off-camera that QB is getting done first.

Slade is from Lake Charles, played at Barbe and McNeese (after going to Clemson to play for Tommy West for a year). I’m also from near Lake Charles and we talked about that. Turns out, his mom lives in the same neighborhood in Iowa, La, that I grew up in. He and I talked about Iowa for 5 minutes, much to the bewilderment of Duarte and the communications staff.
