Clayton Tune Deserves More Love From UH Fans — This Late Run and Still Improving QB Shouldn’t Be Dismissed as Meaningless

Tune is far from a problem for the program. Just not much to like about the team right now. It sucks for him. He’ll probably be a 4-6 round pick, and be in-line for a backup qb job, which is a sweet gig these days.

Can anyone elaborate on the CKS stuff in this thread? I am pretty confused.

He’s easily top 10…

He’s not playing on the same types of teams either. He’s among his peers, just like the pros.

Ware
Klingler
Keenum
Kolb
Ward
Davis
Landry
Burris
Mullins
Nobles
Clatterbuck
King

Which 3 are you putting #3 ahead of? Any other greats that I’m missing? Even if you pick 3, I think it’s debatable and not easily.

I’ll start with Clatterbuck and King…

Clatterbuck led the Coogs to their 1st winning record, 1st bowl appearance, 1st bowl win, 1st conference championship, and 1st ranked team. He also played in the NFL.

Don’t discount his impact on UH football.

Tune has gone from a draft choice to a free agent through no fault of his own. I lay Tune’s troubles directly at the feet of Dawson and CDH. They came out with that BS “Sloth Offense” and buried the UH offense in a foot of mud. Then that “genius” (remember that?) Belk perfected the “Retreat Then Fold” defense that put way more pressure on the offense. Tune and the UH players deserved a hell of a lot better than what they got out this “Let’s not miss Happy Hour” coaching staff.

To the contrary, I think the fact that he’s been carrying this team on his back all year will keep him in the draft. He can’t be held responsible for a defense that can’t stop a hog in a ditch.

Its required to call the coach staff “drinking buddies” on Coogfans. Thanks for your service

Guys from bad and mediocre teams get drafted all the time. The NFL looks for a player’s potential to play and succeed in the NFL–not his choice of college team(s).

UH’s record won’t have an effect on his draft stock. He’s got four years of stats, he’ll have the Shrine game, he’ll have the combine (probably) and a bunch of interviews and workouts for NFL teams.

Dana has made Tune into a better QB, one with better NFL skills. The NFL has the opposite of the Dana bias Coogfans have
