Clayton Tune Deserves More Love From UH Fans — This Late Run and Still Improving QB Shouldn’t Be Dismissed as Meaningless

I see why I missed it.

It deserves its own thread for sure. I don’t like going back and forth with other coogs. We’re all on the same side here. Hope everyone here has a great day!

And this is a big part of why I keep going to games. It’s not just Tune - there are guys all over the field that are busting it to win games.

Objectively speaking, we have played some entertaining games this year. The Tulane loss was such a killer from an attendance standpoint. It wasn’t even that we lost as much as how we lost. The team turning that around in time to win the Memphis game is still one of the most impressive things that’s happened this season, but after Tulane, the fan support was gone until 2023, regardless of what the team did.

This is a thing I’ve said before, but Tune has never been as bad as this board made him out to be. We’ve been sort of spoiled in the past with the Kevin Kolbs and Case Keenums and Greg Wards of the world, to the extent that we think anything short of that is terrible. At his worst, Tune was about average. He was never The Problem. He’s not the best in the nation by any stretch, but he was also far from “the worst QB in the nation,” as I heard get bandied about here.

It’s ridiculous. Didn’t Case throw 7 interceptions against AF in a bowl game? Kolb threw 5 in a game against a very mediocre UTEP team his junior year

Tune is a gamer and deserves our respect! The offense has not been the problem in the 2nd half of the season.

I think Tune is the best player on the team right now with Dell close behind. I wish he was here next year as our QB to start our first year in the Big XII

Clayton just may surprise a lot of folks and have a decent pro career.

This young man has taken way too much CRAP for my liking. UH has 85 good football players led by a coaching staff with one of the worst cases of cerebralrectumitis I can remember seeing since Applesauce was in charge. This QB will play on Sundays.

Pretty much what he did.

Except for the other stuff, yeah.

I think papercity needs to head back to the lab and see if they can make their headlines a little longer

I’m craftycoog and I approve of this thread/article.

Great article and spot on. This excerpt should sting a lot of folks – and you know who you are:

“Tune is still turning himself into a better quarterback, even 10,000 plus yards into his Houston career. There are few athletes in all of Houston sports — pro or college — who’ve been more questioned, criticized and doubted than Clayton Tune over the past several years.”

Clayton is having a great year, if the D was having anywhere near an average year, we wouldn’t have more than one loss. Just to give you an idea of his TD to INT ratio, here are some comparisons to NFL QB’s that are considered to be pretty good. These are so far this season.
Clayton Tune: 31 TDs, 8 int’s, 68.8% completions
Patrick Mahomes: 25 TDs, 7 int’s, 66.9% completions
Josh Allen: 20 TDs, 10 int’s, 64.5% completions
Joe Burrow: 18 TDs, 6 int’s, 70% completions
Kirk Cousins: 14 TDs, 8 int’s, 64% completions

Huh ?

Clayton Tune hasn’t taken to social media and started stuff or went back and forth with UH fans. He hasn’t msde bad decisions on and off the field.

Dude has been a good qb and I’ll miss him next year. You all better hope we have a qb who can do half of what he can next year. It really is a shame UH fans can’t even put 10k in a stadium. Absolute disgraceful by our alumni.

Its disgraceful Tune has to defeat his own defense just to win a game.

Our defense is playing as bad as Iowa’s offense was the 1st half of the season. Iowa scored 14 points or less in 5 of their first 7 games. Terrible.

So that guy is “woke” ? ? ? ? ?

Here you are, upset at the people who are upset . . . . .
