CFB sign stealing?

Baylor and TCU allegedly listened in on Tech’s helmet communications between players and coaches.

This could get spicy…

Awesome so anything Baylor or TCU does positively for the next 8 seasons should have an asterisk.

Tech folks are big mad about it, which is understandable. I suspect the B12 will try to just make it go away quickly with no punishments.

This is why our offense sucks!

Haha no way, everyone in the stadium already knows we are going to run a QB draw, no sign stealing necessary!

I’ve seen some rumblings that some of the audio recordings of Tech’s communications were actually found on a gambling site. Don’t know if that’s true, though.

New work for signals intel personnel.

Anybody remember the 2009 Armed Forces Bowl?

Air Force picked off Case Keenum SIX times. If there was ever a game where we had our signs stolen, that was the one.

I remember it well, since I was sitting there in the cold watching it all go down. But I will say that their coach or DC (DeRuyter) has had a knack for doing that to offenses like ours.

:rage: :rage:

I am surprised at the lack of sophistication in developing the communication to players on the field. Encrypted communication is widely used in today’s world.

Did teams think that every team would obey the honor system? Leave it to religious affiliated schools to forget sportsmanship and playing by the rules.

I was there.

I think that teams believed their comms were encrypted until recently.

This seems like a conference fail.

Meh

Yeah, when your team isn’t competing for a championship, none of this is really a big deal.

I don’t know what we will run on every play, but I call about 75% or 80%.

So what message does this dishonesty send to the students of these Universities ? It is ok to cheat as long as you don’t get caught !

If they are sending the comms in for a software update to make them encrypted leads me to believe they thought the comms were encrypted.

I checked the Coachcomm website and I am assuming the system is the Cobalt Plus system because it features Coach-to-player communication, at the top of their sell sheet is “Secure Digital Communication Military-grade encryption for maximum security”, which would lead me to believe it was encrypted, too.

Makes me think of the famous Oilers-Chargers playoff game the Oilers won thought they were without an injured Pastorini and Earl Campbell. The Oilers defense supposedly had San Diego’s offensive signals and stifled Dan Fouts.

Top Houston Oiler’s WR Ken Burrough missed the San Diego Chargers game too with injury. Ken passed away in 2022.

RIP Ken Burrough.

The Air Force did their job (pun intended)
