That’s not entirely true. I enjoy CSN, Joan Baez, and others. I may agree with Kid Rock, but don’t make me listen to his music.

That is only your opinion which doesn’t make it right. Like just because I can’t stand rap and hip hop, doesn’t make it bad, just bad to me. Swift’s music may not suit your taste, but obviously it does fit the taste of many millions of fans. My 41 year old daughter loves her as do many other grown women I know. My daughter is a teacher and she wore a TS NFL sweatshirt to school today and her students and fellow teachers were thrilled.

Music taste is super subjective, but I agree with your post for the most part in the context of y’alls conversation
Taylor Swift makes music for normal people with mainstream tastes (normies). Her music is generic, pop music yet has enough lyrical depth to make women feel like they can relate to her despite Taylor being in a much higher tax bracket than 99% of her fanbase. Taylor Swift along with her team knows this works which is why well… it works. Her image is also safe enough for it to appeal to kids. It’s much more acceptable for a soccer mom to take her 10 year old kids to a Taylor Swift concert than it would’ve been for a Britney Spears concert back in 2002.
That being said, if you’re a guy that’s into metal or a millennial woman that is super into Cocteau Twins or The Cure, then Taylor Swift’s music is probably not going to be your cup of tea.
If you’re Gen X into those bands you may still like Taylor Swift. At least that’s just anecdotal from people I know.
I really don’t understand the need for a made up pejorative (and it is) for normal people.

The best comedy routine I ever saw was Bill Cosby at the Astrodome. I laughed so hard, so often that when I left my face and sides hurt. I know he is out of favor now (is he still in prison, or alive for that matter), but dang he was funny.
