I think average recruit ranking might be a better metric for comparing classes. 247 shows this years class as having our highest average recruit ever. I think that’s pretty good for a guy who’s recruiting having to recruit players to come to a program that went 4-8 last year.
We currently have a better average rating than KSU, Utah, ISU, BYU, KU, and Baylor, Which wouldn’t make sense because I thought we were recruiting at a G5 level.
Maybe Austin Carlisle takes your advice and switches to TCU since he is too small and only has three stars to show. J/k
Btw his friend and teammate Dave Jones just committed to the Frogs after getting an offer from UH.
You really need to share your thoughts with Fritz and maybe that will improve recruiting.
Just saying this is the same level of recruit that we got in the G5… We all know some of them turn into stars and many more are role players…
I know we’ve gotten a few high rated recruits from the Houston area so hopefully CWF keeps trending in that direction…
But, at this point, we’re getting the same talent level we had in the G5… we can win with that level of player as 2011 and 2015 showed… but I would think our P4 affiliation should help us stay in the 40s and below…
Better put into the NIL collective if you want better talent. This isn’t the P5 vs G6 days. The money is out in the open and the big tine prospects are getting paid big dollars. Where is our collective just to make sure everyone on the team is paid. We are very behind on this front. Fritz is doing exceptional considering this
You’re judging Fritz before he’s had a single full cycle. The class he’s working on rn is very promising and features two 4 star lineman (something we’ve recruited very few of in the past). He’s also already got a big time commit for the 2026 class so be patient because good things are on the horizon. Just wait til CWF starts winning games.
I’m thinking Dana had given hopes of recruiting high school players and was taking the easy way out taking portal players.
I want Fritz to win right off, but that will be easier said than done.
Unless we shock the world I can see us staying down another year or two.
But this I know, unlike Dana coach Fritz is well liked by coaches in the Houston area.
Sampson didn’t do it overnight and I would think hoops is easier than football to turn around.
I truly believe, barring a total disaster on the field, that you going to our recruit ratings go upwards.
And I standby what I said before, Carlisle was a huge get for the Coogs whether he remains a 3 star or earns an extra star.
Ridge Point is loaded with great athletes and for the first we have a coach who visits often.
I have to call into question 247s class rankings. We have 12 commits to Baylors 11 and a higher average commit ranking and are somehow 7 spots lower than them.
All of their commits have their composite rankings so they’re getting points for all 11 of their commitments. We have 12 commits, but 2 still don’t have their composite rankings so we’re only getting points for 10 commits.
When you find 100,000+ UH fans that are willing to attend our FB games and contribute $50,000,000+ a year to recruit and pay UH FB players the likes of which UT-Austin and Ohio State (and maybe even Alabama) are doing, THEN we can start talking about recruiting high 4 to 5 star rated HS players.
Until then, it’s kind of like Rice or Houston Christian alumni talking about recruiting players off of the Houston Texans roster. Surely folks on here can’t be that naive, can they?
I think Coogfans needs to start shutting down for the summer like school. These takes are getting crazier by the day. We have a 4 star OL & DL committed and this is the take
