Until UH gets a solid Q1 Win, they’re fine where they currently are. I never worry abt any of the many many writers, voters opinions etc until around mid February. If they finish in Top 3 of BIG12, where I expect them to finish, everything will take care of itself.
Edit: sometimes the reality isn’t pretty. The best win to date is BYU ( 47 KenPom) - @ home. If Coogs are able to beat WVU ( 42 KenPom) Wed, then it will leap to best W.

Rankings don’t matter.
Honestly don’t care about where we’re ranked early this year.
We had one of our better runs as a 5 seed in the tourney. It doesn’t really matter until March. If you have a good team, it will show

I’m not worried about where they currently are….my complaint is with the guy that has them unranked.
That is either pure laziness or lack of knowledge….
There’s always a couple of them. Not just Houston that gets left out but that’s the ONE we follow, so…
I can assure if i analyzed his rankings, he’s got couple of others out of wack.

There are plenty of teams on his ballot without a “marquee win”…
And West Virginia at home is not really a “marquee win” either.
Playing two top five teams in the country to the final minute of the game and losing by one or two plays is more impressive then beating an “unranked “West Virginia at home.
Yep, i don’t have our schd in front of me but im pretty sure it won’t be till @ Kansas- Jan 25 ( that date i know) that our first Q1 oppty will come.
Edit: yes back to back road gms KU n WVU will be our first Q1 win opptys, not counting 2 losses of course to the 2 Alabama schools.

This guy is free to make his rankings however he sees things, but I got to agree with Pollard. I get every season is different, but Sampson’s teams have been in the top 25 (mainly top 10) for quite awhile now at UH. Preseason top 5, four starters back from last season, Jojo + TA back, the Auburn game went down to the last minute (and Auburn has been a top 5 team all season), same with 'Bama and that game went to OT, top rated D in the country, undefeated in one of top conferences in the country, and he’s keeping us out of his Top 25 because in his opinion we don’t have a “marquee win”?? Alright then.
Maybe his wife had an affair with a Coog alum? 
And this is a problem with rankings. Dropping teams for losing a one possession game to elite teams and then elevating teams for scraping by against teams like ECU.

I will look at it another way. We are ranked 10th. That is a snapshot of today. What matters to me most is how we are progressing from our first “official” game. To face a team like U of H is becoming a nightmare and we have not even hit our best potential yet. We could not be in a better trajectory than now. CKS IMO ought to be in the Coach of the Year discussion. Outstanding work.

We play ISU once, KU twice but all three games espn analytics has us favored…Both ISU and KU are ranked higher than we are…
I have a deep appreciation for the schedule makers that scheduled us to play Iowa State once in the regular season, and for it to be a home game for us.
Case in point is Marquette should lose votes for going into OT with DePaul.
