We rarely respond well to happy talk. We’re far more focused when the other guys are in the limelight.
I hope we win the first two close. It will keep us motivated and the other guys wondering.

Looks like he has us losing to UNC in the Elite 8.
I would like to get to the Sweet 16. Anything past that is gravy.

Based on the peripherals shown on these graphs, it looks like Coogs are among the seven strongest in the entire tournament. Two of the other six (Kentucky and North Carolina) are in the same region.

Not sure if he counts but Jeff Van Gundy picked UH as one of his final four on air during the GS-SA telecast earlier tonight. He also picked Texas tech so not sure how much he follows college.

FWIW, I was just watching ESPN and Steve Levy has UH in his Final 4. I have them losing to UK in the sweet 16.
If we make it to the sweet 16 we have had a very successful year.
If we lose to Iowa St/Ohio St we have had an adequate year with conference championship and consecutive years of winning tournament games.
If we lose to Georgia State…
Building a year in year out Sweet 16/ Elite 8 program is very doable and we probably are already there.

I don’t know. Winning a conference title and advancing in the tournament is far more than adequate to me. You don’t have to summit immediately just because you can finally see the top. Look how far they’ve come already.
To go further, I think losing to Georgia State would absolutely suck but that really would have no negative impact on how I would look back and view the season in totality. Even if they were to get knocked out that early they have taken yet another step forward from what the team accomplished last season.
This year has been more than successful already no matter what else happens. Hell, I remember when I was somewhat excited about the CBI just to keep playing postseason basketball.
