Anyone else get an email from Mike Pede saying they’re verifying alumni? The email prompted to call a 877 number. Looks a little suspect.
I got it too but didn’t do anything with it.
Bruh I don’t want to be on the phone for an hour with them asking to give more money.
I need someone to be brave and call it. Lol
I’m a chicken🐔
It does look very scammy. The website in the email says it’s for an updated alumni directory, which I assume means they want to make sure they’re begging the right person for money.
Figured lol thanks for the insight
Yeah, my thought is that if they have my email address, they dom’t need any more info. Not calling. Ever.
If they really just needed contact info, they’d set something up online. Click this link to confirm or update.
Nah this is a scam to harvest your info. I get this for my high school too. But it’s not run by the school, they have their own alumni info. As I’m sure UH already does since we buy season tickets from them.
I told them I was Benny Anders.
Don’t call it, your number will get spammed if you do.
Think of it as a caller id scam. All they need is that phone call to get your number
Yep. My fraternity used the same service a few years ago. It’s mostly to sell you something. They might have some cool merch though, not sure.
I did complain to my fraternity that it was ridiculous that I couldn’t do it online.
Where in the Hell is Benny?
I think Michigan when they did the 30 for 30.
They likely want to sell an alumni directory to you. My fraternity did the same thing. After calling twice, I now remember.
Edit: Fixed typo.
Yes but they usually have some other stuff to sell too.
Mu instead of My seems appropriate.
There was a reddit thread about this.

Edit still seems shady though. Scroll up on the link to see full discussion.
I just got a card today.
In the past, my college fraternity, my other schools’ alumni groups, and some of my Veterans groups have all solicited in the same way for a similar member directory.
Besides updating your info, they’ll try to sell you a copy, and will often try to convince you to buy a package with various other merchandise (duffle bags, t-shirts, mugs, etc).
Happens all the time.
I just wish they did it online but they prefer the telephone pitch instead. They just haven’t figured out what year it is.
