It is douchery and it happens all the time.
Cheech and Chong reference approved!
I donât deal with the NIL part of anythingâŚâŚI reach out on behalf of my parents over the phoneâŚ.then of course speak with coaches while Iâm coaching at tournaments.
I have been asked twice ( by a coach)if there was a number or range the kids family had in mind.
I just refer them to the parents.
And I let parents know at the beginning of the season that should their kid be fortunate enough to be in a position to make NIL money I can give them my opinion but will not get in the middle of anything type negotiation.
I have not had anything like that so farâŚâŚjust kids that were excited to get a big piece of a scholarship or happy to find a place to play.
Had NIL been a thing 5-6 years ago Iâm not sure how that would have gone downâŚ.had a couple of kids that were first round picks.
What does that mean that he was promised NIL money? Was he promised to make a few commercials with his name, image and likeness?
So why are we mad at Todd? Obviously whomever is telling them about what money is our there is the one to blame
The solution is simple - buy the best players and Todd wins
NIL was supposed to be used in exchange for us using an image, likeness or name in promotional materials - that quickly was a lie as how many college athletesâ ads you see around town?
Toddâs problems go way before NIL.
But we can fix them overnight with NIL as this generation is for themselves anyway - new guy is going to want more money for himself and NIL so sometimes I rather deal with what I have as it could be worse
I mean, I guess if you have unlimited funds. We donât and wonât though, especially with a coach that is generating zero excitement.
The problem isnât NIL. Thatâs quite clear. See Kelvin and even Fritz so far.
But what Iâm saying is that we just throw out this âWeâre paying him NIL moneyâ as if that means anything. As if that is justification to just pay a player to come play for your school. That is not what NIL isâŚ
Todd has been under-performing since way before NIL. That sounds suspiciously like Dana Holgorsen.
Aggies bought a #1 football class in 2022 but it hasnât led to even a big bowl. OSU beat âem in the Texas Bowl last year. Maybe that talent will lead to something next year but many are already gone.
It would be fun to have a #1 baseball class but it wouldnât lead to the CWS unless we also had strong portal players. Would CTW and Woody do with a top-rated class? One better than all of the SEC?
If you have to have the absolute best players to win then hire a dog to coach the teamâŚ.what a stupid comment.

But what Iâm saying is that we just throw out this âWeâre paying him NIL moneyâ as if that means anything. As if that is justification to just pay a player to come play for your school. That is not what NIL isâŚ
It is now.
It is legalized payments.
But why do we call it NIL payments, when it has nothing to do with Name, Image and Likeness? We should just say, weâre paying them to play here. There is no âNILâ involved in this crap.
Schools have used NIL much the same way. Depending on who is paying (itâs not all businesses), Iâm sure some do something to âearnâ it but it usually isnât much.
Itâs not like their are any real requirements around it.
Now youâre getting it.
