Which lost Houston bars/clubs did you USED to party at?

Ahhh, I thought it had closed down many moons ago. Perhaps it was revived by
new owners ?

I don’t think they ever closed. They were a private events only venue for several years. They got back into live music a few years ago.

Rockefeller’s had occasional shows pre-covid. Haven’t received any email notifications from them recently, but have one new show scheduled in February. The Duck is going strong with live music again. Unfortunately they have lost some shows to more competition and larger venues lately, such as Heights Theater. Main Street Crossing in Tomball has pulled in some pretty decent shows lately.

Got a black eye the night before my wedding at Cooter’s. Bouncers lost the fight but I caught hell the next day

Marquis is still open. But it looks all neat and clean and has windows now.

A friend of mine had his wedding reception at rockefellers. I saw REK there back in the late 90’s. Awesome venue.

The Tomball Main Street Crossing is so convenient to get to and is so less stuffy than the Duck. Love the duck but jeez it is a hike. 2920 road house is packing some great shows as well but they are outdoor. Caught Dale Watson last night at MSC, and have seen Todd Snider and Ray Wylie recently. Just a great listening room. Catching reverend Horton Hear next month.

No one remembers Fizz?

probably already mentioned but Sherlocks, Gingerman ?, Wild West, The UC underground (when it looked like a run down bar and we would see how many pitchers we could stack before they fell down), Firehouse but the one that is still there is the MARQUIS II. When you opened the door to the marquis you were greeted by cloud of cigarette smoke. I probably lost a few years of life because of it. Its much better looking now a days.

Wednesday night races at the turtle club

Mi Luna, Murfrelees, Lotus Lounge (a good buddy owned it), Club Ecstasy, Sam’s Boat (Richmond and Stafford), and Red Square (when I was a youngin).

Pete’s Wildlife wasn’t bad either, but it was known to have a lot of “pancakes” (i.e., hefty gals) with tight fitting clothes. That could be good or bad, depending.
