Amazing ! Bob Sr. was about the largest human being I ever remember seeing. Bless his heart his football career gave bad knees and walked two canes.Bob Jr and Robin were really nice people as well.

BTW, the Sam’s Club on S. Rice has a nice display of Cougar gear, with a tent, chairs, and cooler.

That’s awesome! Glad to see they are all doing so well.

From all of those far stretching, cross country universities, it sounds like those boys wanted to get away from each other.

I went to St Thomas More 3rd-8th then Strake for two years and graduated from Bellaire. Y’all are bringing up some great memories from my old hood! Grew up on Hillcroft close to Airport, then a townhouse closer to St Thomas More.

Fun fact - Dan Pastorini used to live in a townhouse across the street from us. Around peek Luv Ya Blue days, me and my buddies (I was 7 or 8) would knock on his door on Saturday mornings and he would throw the football with us, probably hung over lol. There were several Oilers in the neighborhood at the time.

This is a nice easy going enjoyable thread. I can’t take anymore PAC12 Big12 expansion non-news.

I grew up in Bellaire from age 12 (1964). Still have friends still in town as far back as Pershing Junior High.

We would hang out at Meyerland, Westbury Square, Surfside, and then Jack In The Box at 10pm.

Was the 1st student on the Bellaire football team with long hair. Ray Alborn was the head coach. Coach Knoblock was the coach before varsity. Coach Alborn tolerated the hair because I did have some God given talent (fastest player on team and 6’ tall in late 60s). I think he just added an extra swat for whatever the swat of the week was, to justify keeping me around. Fortunately Coach hadn’t found out I was football stupid (like actually understanding the play book).

I learned about 7 years ago, Coach Alborn was mayor of Ruidoso, New Mexico. He had a pretty wild time on his radio program there.

I could go on forever about those times. Really good memories of most everything.

St. Vincents grad here, my kids too. Still have one there. Go Tigers!

Zappo’s!!! Loved those sandwiches. They had picnic style benches/tables as I recall. I’m over in North Shore area now and there’s a place that has similar food but it’s not quite Zappo’s.

I stopped by there. This place still has several “Houston Cougars” sections filled with gear and only one little A&M section and one little Cow section as well.
