So our team full of players who have grown up watching Gonzaga winning games on the big state is going to look past that team if we play them?

IIRC…that’s their main conference rival. It would be like UH vs. Memphis in basketball when we were in the AAC.
I am not worried about Gonzaga, quite honestly. Sampson won’t have any problem getting the team up for them as I’m sure he’s looked forward to playing them for years in what would be a matchup of the two winningest programs since 2018.
This year, however, we have what it takes to handily zig past them, and I would have few concerns, especially given the utter respect we’d give them going in that would enable us to focus and, hence, dominate.
I trust this team now more than ever and would be shocked if it’s a short run for us. I definitely feel like this team is a culmination of everything Sampson has accomplished over the last 11 years and it definitely has the feel of being a team of destiny at this point.
I’m not even going to sweat the draw or how ‘tough’ the overall region appears to be. The only team in this tournament that scares me anyway (Duke) isn’t even in our region. So, I’m looking forward to just sitting back, relaxing and enjoying the next phase of this ride.

Every region is pretty damn challenging. No gimmes. I trust Coach Sampson and the players will be ready and eager to put their best foot forward against whatever team is in front of them.

NCAA Tournament is always a crap shoot…they could get referees that call a lot of ticky tack fouls and our players get in foul trouble and makes it much more difficult to play our style…we shall see

Georgia beat Florida so I wouldn’t underestimate Georgia… playing in sec has made them tough…
West Virginia beat Gonzaga.
We handled West Virginia pretty well.

What is up with all the whining about Gonzaga? Regardless of who the 8 is, we still have to beat them to win a title. Also, these guys lost to Santa Clara, Oregon State, a super mid UCLA, West Virginia, and both times in the regular season to st. Mary’s. This isn’t 2015 Kentucky we’re talking about

They also beat Baylor 101-63, San Diego state 80-67, Indiana 89-73 and lost to Kentucky by 1 in overtime. They’re no slouch.
