UH Softball

We are bad, very bad. I think Whitting and Vesley use the same scheduler to try and keep their jobs. We will be no better next year, 2 of the best hitters are grad students. Not sure of their eligibility tho.
Haven’t had a top line pitcher in years.

Coach Kyla Holas left eight years ago and started her own business coaching youth softball pitchers. Maybe burned out at UH?

Another fine performance by the Lady Coogs in the first game at Baylor.

Lose 6-0 with two hits.

Can’t wait for the second game..

Well, something to do to while waiting for the Stros. In truth, just love college sports. So sad that we have lost so many fans.

In related news, baseball down 3 zip in second. 2 out throwing error leads to 2 run homer. Both teams performing as expected.

Yep saw that in regards to baseball :baseball:

I played my ball at a different school….but I grew up in Houston as a Cougar fan….wound up getting one of my grad degrees from UH and proudly display it along with other UH memorabilia….

Point is , as a die hard of multiple sports , especially baseball I am tired of this crap….we deserve better.

She was pushed out by the administration. She was an old school coach that held kids accountable to high standards and she refused to change just to keep people happy. DeJuena Chizer runs off those types of coaches in favor coaches who “keep the kids happy” but don’t necessarily get the results. Every once in a while they hit a home run (like the current VB coach and former W Golf coach), but they never stick around long. Former track coach Burrell once told me that he coached the men hard and with the women’s team he tried to recruit well and keep it light because in his words the administration wasn’t willing to deal with the small vocal minority that cries when held accountable.

Good explanation. The soccer conditioning fiasco comes to mind. I think that is a very big problem with softball now. Along with other issues.

Folks who get to whiff and dictate the lives of others are never judged by anyone themselves for some reason

Comment goes hard at the coach.

Pretty much expected. The team did not want to play for coach v. Was very evident in watching the end of the season.

That comments to that tweet are BRUTAL!

Guessing a disgruntled player or family.

Shut this one down too.

No baseball or softball……Pez has let both programs turn into an absolute joke.

Add wrestling, water polo, etc.

It’s hard to believe we have a program that is a bigger mess than baseball. At least it might force Pez and company to make a change here

I have no idea how valid the claims are in the replies to the transfer announcement but those are some serious allegations and I would hope the administration will investigate the claims thoroughly.

It also makes me ask why in the world would Vesely still have her job.

Last four years 31 games under 500
Transfer issues
Big time staff turnover
Big time allegations about misconduct

I alluded to this in another thread. Political ramifications in firing two women coaches and letting an abysmal baseball program ride? Lawsuits? Hope I am wrong, but in today’s litigious society, has to be considered.

If any of these allegations are even partially true you are already open to lawsuits. There is no group status that should be acceptable to use as a shield against being let go because of poor performance and lack of institutional control.

I agree. My line of thought was repercussions not taking into account the allegations. Now, if any of these allegations are proven, that’s a completely different matter.

Because Pez sucks at his job……He reminds me of a small town where the Head Football Coach is also the AD and the only thing they care about is the football team.

Add Beaute to Colmen, two of your best players gone through portal. Beaute was here one year. Coleman who came out of the impact program headed by the Jacksons lasted two years.

How bad does the state of the program have to be to lose these players so quickly.
Add to that the talk on social media about the conditions looks horrible.

Does the administration realize Vesely’s contract is up? Why wouldn’t they take this opportunity to start over and give this program a chance to compete again?

Unfortunately with this much time having gone by with no announcement I would have to assume they are planning to bring her back.

Don’t play into the hands of a student-athlete without a thorough investigation

That’s why the ncaa has basically lost its backbone now catering to disgruntled kids
