The reason is the way he left UH. Guaranteed everyone who thinks about interviewing Briles from here on out will call UH to find out why they didn’t interview. It will come down to the lasting memory of how he left UH the first time. Blowing a chance at a conference championship, bailing on your team before a bowl game - a team without a bowl win in over 20 years - and recruiting for your new job while you still are occupying the offices of your previous job. You revealed your true colors. You will always be Benedict Briles.

Ummm… while that is part of it, the overwhelming factor was the rape culture that happened on his watch – whether it was by omission or commission, or both – has much more to do with it.
