UCF apologizes for National Guard social media post during blowout win over

Playing Kent state and tweeted “Someone call the national guard”

Totally bad optics for anyone who remembers. Insensitive at best.

They said it was referencing something Shannon Sharpe did in ‘96?

Too soon?
First time i heard about was listening to Neil Young, though the Isley Brothers have a great cover

Good grief. These kids don’t remember the Vietnam war. Silly.

Agreed. I had to look it up. 1970……

Yeah that is an unfortunate one right there. I mean…out of all the schools…

Know your history folks…although not sure if that’s allowed in Florida anymore.

Story of the Crosby/Still/Nash/Young song referenced above. Probably heard it a thousand times in the Quad back then.

The counterculture is now the culture.

There are plenty who remember….just because the current players on the team don’t have a clue doesn’t mean it’s not meaningful to others….especially those affected….

Because they don’t “remember the Vietnam War” make it silly?

SMH over you callousness.

They should’ve doubled down

Stupid decision by UCF’s social media folks.

The joke is something I might say to close friends, but it’s not something I’m gonna put in a company-wide email, or post on LinkedIn, because you know there will be ramifications.

If you’re willing to live with the consequences, by all means you’re free to do it. But you gotta know you’re gonna have a mess on your hands to deal with.

It was in poor taste.

I differ on term. Not pure taste.

The word is Cruel

It might be funny against any other school, but a college student or grad running their social media should know their history.
