Jokic, Davis, Embiid are tall men, not big men. They all have different special skills associated with perimeter players.
Jokic stretches you out to the 3 point line. Same with Embiid. Same with Davis. None of them are back to the basket guys.
Hell. I saw Jokic pump fake at the 3 point line, put the ball on the floor with 2 dribbles, and then hit a running floater. It was impressive.

All three of those guys are interior guys who can shoot.
Olajuwon, Ewing and Robinson were all very good shooters as well just didnât choose to take threes.

Different times = Different type of players.
Ever since the Warriors came along and the rules change⊠Its been who can stay hot from 3 pt distance longer is the one who usually wins now.
I am imagining UH signing Grant Nelson, having him pop a few from 20 ft., opening up the spacing on the floor, and letting Roberts do his thing: hustle, get rebounds and easy baskets. Having Nelson makes UH a very difficult team to defend offensively.
I hope UH can make it happen.

The Rockets have been integral in the evolution of the NBA game.
When they switched Horry to the PF during the 95 playoffs it changed the face of the game. Teams didnât have PRs who wanted to go out and defend, especially those like Barkley and he was good enough defensively to hold his own.
I also believe the Harden lead Rockets with Mike D running the show reshaped how a lot of teams run their offenses by spreading the court and using it for threes or layups.
And going backwards their use of the Twin Towers changed the game especially after beating the Show Time Lakers.

Yes sir, Coach Russell. With Yao Ming, the NBA and Rockets had a legitimate superstar to market to a country with 1.4 billion people. That is a lot of merch.
