Nelson on paper but Kaluma is battle tested and proven playing in the Big East.
Iām going back and forth between Nelson and Udeh because they help UH in different ways.
- Nelson is a more polished offensive player than Udeh who can really open up the floor with an outside shot. Nelson can play PF and Roberts can play his role at C under the basket, similar to last season. CKS can then give some minutes to Tugler and Lath to develop and RS McFarland.
- Udeh is a true C, which could require Roberts to move to PF and develop an outside shot, and Francis to share time with Udeh at C. By moving Roberts to PF, CKS can give minutes to Tugler and Lath. If you keep Roberts as C, you limit the development of Tugler and Lath.
Either we are not interested or not even in the running?
Or inking the deal with Kaluma or Nelson as we speakā¦
Nelson. The CKS system will force him to improve some on defense, but the same is unlikely with Udehās offense. I want to see what a skilled offensive team under a defense-first CKS will look like. Shead would also be able to play a more traditional PG role and have options to distribute to. Imagine a āsmall-ballā offensive lineup with Shead, Cryer, Dunn, TA, and Nelson. Or Shead, Cryer, Sharp, Dunn, and Nelson.
NEWS: Florida State transfer Naheem McLeod, a 7-foot-4 center, has committed to Syracuse, he tells @On3sports.

I prefer a center but an experienced center. Udey barely played, so I voted Nelson
Exactly!
And Nelson is listed as a Pf.
I prefer Nelson but I truly believe we have no shot. Heck we may not be in the running for Udey either.
I voted for Nelson. All are intriguing prospects, but I think Nelson could be incorporated into the system easier with no position change for Roberts and Nelson creating a match-up nightmare.
One side note on a potential storyline if Udeh signs with UH. When UH plays Kansas, Udeh can go against Hunter Dickinson, the player who made Udeh expendable at Kansas.
We did well with another Kansas transfer!
I agree with most of what you saidā¦only I would say that yes , Roberts goes to the ā4ā but he doesnāt need an outside shot to be effectiveā¦.a little mid range is fine.
The outside game is going to be better with the guards we haveā¦.if hypothetically we had Udeh at the 5 and Roberts the ā4ā is love to see them banging down lowā¦rebounding everything and not giving up anything in the laneā¦if they try and pull Roberts out to the 3 point line go into a 3-2 zone with the bigs down low and stretch out the guards up top to extend the zoneā¦.Iām not talking about a traditional 2-3 where you pack it down low and get beat on the three ball.
The reason why both Javier and R. Walker have had issues is they both have slow feet. They both struggle to keep quicker players in front of them and as pointed out slow on their rotations.
Are there things the coaching staff can do to help them both with this? Yes. However only time will tell if itās enough to regain Sampsonās trust (defensively) to put them out there. Thatās what happened to both of them last year (Sampson couldnāt trust them), and yet there posters on here talking about Ramonās shot. HELLO it (playing time) had nothing to do with his shot.
Totally agree. If Roberts developed a reliable 10-15 footer, I would be happy camper.
If Nelson plays Center than yes. If its someone like Francis. Hell noooo Willis!
They didnāt play on the same teams, otherwise, it would have been balls out.
Dream had a damn good supporting cast with PSJā¦
No offense meant, but obviously, you didnāt see these guys play. Olajuwon and E together on any team would be damn near unstoppable but add in the Dwights and 6ā9ā point guard Dunbar, wow.
