What proof do we have that he is seeking a big man? I have not heard him say such a thing. He brought in 3 big recruits.
If he doesn’t have confidence in them I could see him bringing in a big to spell Roberts. And don’t count out Tugler.
Depending on how Lath develops he could also see time.
Sampson is not going to bench Roberts for a portal. If he had those plans Roberts would know and probably be in the portal.

theres going to be one more surge with draft players coming back or going in the next few days… but yeah for the most part thre wont be a lot of proven talent left in the portal
in a few weeks it will be deep bench 4stars or 10pt per mid majors as your best outcomes
I want to hear from coach that we are recruiting someone other than Dedan.
It’s doubtful Sampson is going to guarantee anyone else a starting spot. And how many portal kids who are being highly recruited would come here without some guarantee?
Arcenaux and Roberts would love to know.

Also, there was a front court player who visited earlier this week.
Y’all get caught up in BIGS, point guards, etc. CKS doesn’t say BIGS, etc. It’s frontcourt and backcourt players in his verbiage. So basically, they’re looking to pair somebody with J’Wan.
How is it that Kansas could start Jalen Wilson with a 6’6”-6’7” Mark Adams in their front court and be successful? Yet many of y’all fantasize about the “NEED” for a 7 footer?? That player AIN’T necessary for a Final Four run with our culture and talent level.

True. And if we need to go big here or there on sporadic minutes we can with our young bigs. UConn just won the chip with a backup fresh.
What I am saying is Sampson is in a very delicate situation. I can’t see him destroying the family image and culture this late in the portal season.
Just curious, if we bring in another starter does Roberts go to the bench? Or does Arceneaux just move on?
I know we want to win now but I will leave the decisions to the guy making the big bucks.

but size was a noted issue for kansas… if you watch te kansas broadcasts they often talked about how to overcome the size…
i also dont think they were by design expected to be that small… i think the intent preseason was for zuby or zach clemence to start, who were both more touted than kj (and 6’9/6’10 guys)… but neither were up to the task
kansas last year was similar to us…there are tons of teams pointing to us as to why you can win with a 6’7 center, but within the program there are a ton of people calling for size… its seen an overcome flaw. and people are like why are we trying to overcome a flaw when we can avoid it all together

Even if it was a weakness they still almost made to the Sweet 16 and lost by a bucket.
