dedan was an early enrollee (in college a year early)… and led unlv to a NIT as their best player
he is drastically different than most of the pgs weve had here… including shead…dedan is probably as good of a passer and scorer as most pgs weve had here, and is just going into his sophomore year (he is only 18 right now) and that not accounting for any offseason improvement… there wont be much off a drop off on offense from shead to dedan
the opposite is that dedan will comfortably be the worst defensive pg weve had in the sampson era
i should have wrote this… that all our pgs under sampson have been DPOY quality… (galen to dejon to shead), you can even add sasser. even a passable defender will be far below what we are used to under sampson from the PG
The fact that LJ acquitted himself more than adequately this year is a testament. And Sharp’s defensive improvement and “sticky fingers” was a joy to see on D. Dedan knows what is expected. It’s non-negotiable here. (and bonus points to getting to the NBA)
no matter how high that NIL deal is, UNLV is not a viable path to an NBA position. with a father as smart as his, it’d be genuinely dumb to take however much UNLV offers. also, let’s not pretend he doesn’t already like UH
