Transfer portal 2024

It’s a silly question if you have been living under a rock for decades and are completely unfamiliar with the caliber of program we have built in 10 years under CKS. Which, Dunn slander aside, if your prime example is using something that happened 40+ years ago, 5+ coaching regimes past and quoting a defunct newspaper then seems like you have been. Welcome back, Rip Van Winkle. How was the nap?

Not a fan of small

I really wanted wade, his ability To score on anyone even top defender would have really opened things up for lj and sharp

I remember Clark, what a disaster. Also remember around that time we had Tito Horford wrapped up and lost him because of recruiting violations. Bad memories.]
But Clark was a JC success. No comparison. Uzan has already shown he can shine in the bigtime.

Oh, well if that’s your basis, I want Reed Sheppard. #shrugs

The point of attack was really going to suffer with Taylor. Being 6’0 without great lateral speed and not a ball stopper has its limitations no matter what. Uzan is coming in as a good individual defender and with more size that can help with the traps and close outs to make up some of what we will lose with Shead. Getting JJ and TA is going to be immense for our D.

You’re kind of mixing questions and issues here. Is he elite defender currently? No, but he’s a pretty good on ball defender currently. If he’s coming here he knows he’s going to be expected to play tough and improve his defense. Uzan will also be given a defensive system to thrive.

Now does that mean he’s going to turn into a NDPOY and consensus AA? Absolutely not, he could in fact struggle mightily. But asking if he “can/will play tough D” is not the same as your comparison as a guy who was hyped and completely flopped.

If you’re question is “Will Uzan work out and be a good replacement for Jamal?” Well no one can reassure of that around here we can’t see the future. We can all say if he’s coming here he will be playing hard D. But asking him to be at an AA level is an unfair expectation.

TLDR

If you followed the Coogs program as close as you say you do, you’d know that playing hard nosed defense is a non negotiable in Kelvin’s system. If Milos isn’t capable of upping the ante from a defensive standpoint, Sampson would’nt have offered him the opportunity to run the point for a top 5 preseason bball club.

Sometimes transfers don’t pan out but we’re 3/3 on our B12 transfers (Grimes, Edwards, Cryer) so have some faith that our coaching staff knows wth they’re doing. The kid’s being brought in for a reason.

I don’t think he would come to be the back up “1”….and with the effort put in to getting all our guys back , CKS wouldn’t hand the reigns over to a true freshman.

Nope.

That is my memory from then too. In fact, from my memory, the only supposed and seriously considered player to be the “next Akeem” was Horford (of couse, mistakenly).

And yes I know their timing was not exactly overlapping.

Mid under calipari … doesn’t mean mid under Sampson

Not a true pg. Nothing stood out about him in Kentucky.

Quick glance at UT message board and they are celebrating Mitchell leaving

Mitchell was too raw coming out of HS to be one and done. Sometimes the recruiting services get ahead of themselves and put unrealistic expectations on players. Also he didn’t develop at all at UT

Seems like a lot of players didn’t develop there
