Here come the old heads, talking $H!T about the NIL. Get with the program or get left behind. We’ll be back in the CUSA if we don’t figure out NIL for football.
agreed, coogs need to win or some NIL money will be lost. if local businesses could group some coog players together; that would be best way to use NIL until the coogs are a winning team.
So does buying season tickets and helping Cougar Pride help?
I’m not giving extra to get players who will portal out to a bigger school on a whim.
I am not a rich man, but I will always be a Coog supporter.
But I also am retired with limited income and have to be frugal where my money ends up.
God, family and then Coog sports a distant third.
Let’s beat San Diego and make it a more pleasant trip home!
I like watching the Texans, I support them with eyes on the television and usually one game a year. I don’t send them $20 a month or donate to them so they can pay athletes.
I paid tuition to be an alum. Shoot, I just paid again to graduate with my masters in 2 weeks. My fee bill, as a 46 year old student, has money set aside for athletics. So exactly why would I donate to other students?
What I will do is still attend a game here or there and watch them on tv.
UH has done a poor job connecting with corporations. Schools who have done better there are seeing benefit to NIL, i.e. Fedex and Memphis. Maybe it’s a tough sell because most of Houston based Fortune 100 corporations are oil and gas and not directly consumer driven.
Honestly though, how much impact is there really to bleed all of our fans of every dollar, compared to partnering with a company with annual revenue of $5B+ redirecting some marketing dollars to our athletes?
There will never be enough money. I, like a lot of the other posters support the university with Cougar Pride and season tickets. After leaving the volleyball game today my wife asked how much money we give the University a year, when I told her the amount she said, “that’s
alot”. Bottom line is, there is no more to support athletes who have full scholarships and opportunities I could never dream of while working my way through school.
As the song says, “Stay if you want to stay, go if you want to go”.
