Stadium keeps Jack Pardee’s legacy alive in Christoval

Wasn’t aware of this one, but this is a nice story. Was sad when he left for the Oilers, but his children and now grandchildren are very involved with UH.

Stadium keeps Jack Pardee’s legacy alive in Christoval

The “ceremony to name Christoval’s football stadium after favorite son Jack Pardee was such a big event it even touched the coach for the opposing team,” former Standard-Times Sports Editor Mike Lee wrote in an October 2013 article.

“I can’t think of anyone else who would be more appropriate to name their football stadium after, with what all he did for football,” said then-Eldorado head coach Bryan Green, who served as head coach at Christoval from 2003 to 2008.

Thank you very much Patrick.
I was in School when Mr. Pardee was at the helm. I will always believe that he would have stayed if we had not been put on probation. We all know that Andre won the Heisman against all odds. The anti UH was so pronounced in those days. Some do not understand why we/I despise uta and atm so much but some of it is due to that time period. It is highly ironic to think that Mr. Pardee went to atm. You would had think this could have lessen the hatred from their side. It did not, it just increased it.
R.I.P. Mr. Pardee. A Cougar then and a Cougar for eternity.

Uhhh sorry but I don’t believe that picture is Jack Pardee in an A&M uniform …

Jack was alway #32 … never 80 …

Wow, I didn’t even see that; thought it was an ad. That’s definitely not Pardee.

I went to most of the Pardee era home games and loved those teams. The hatred was always there as we weren’t supposed to be that good and we did it with swagger.

Always hated Bud Adams, and hated him more for taking Pardee. Pardee’s defenses were a big part of the success of those teams and Jenkins couldn’t maintain it.

OK, so I’m going through the archives here at the San Angelo Standard-Times – working on a project – and the photo of Pardee in No. 80 is definitely from A&M. We have the original. It is marked on the back. Not only that, but I have a photo of Jack Pardee when his parents signed the agreement with A&M and you can clearly see he was MUCH skinnier than this picture wearing No. 80. After reading a few stories, it’s clear that the Aggies weren’t exactly sure where to play Pardee right at first and that’s why he’s in No. 80. All the other photos we have are 32. Anyway, since we’re Pardee’s hometown paper, we have a huge file on him. Pretty cool going through and reading all the old stories.
